Ableton Live 8 techniques and hardware

Hey guys,

I use ableton live for production, along with an MPD32, an m-audio KeyStudio, and a Novation Launchpad. I am super comfortable with ableton, but i feel like the clip view is just slowing me down. I feel like i should start using the arrangement view more, and that brings up the question: should i keep or sell my launchpad? I am kind of short on cash at the moment, and operator just isn't doing it for me, so i want to get something like Sylenth1, cause i'm in serious need of a good software synth. Any suggestions for probably less than $200, and good for something like dutch, or (kind of a guilty pleasure) a basshunter type sound. Also, are there any ableton to Logic converts that can tell me about that experience, i've also considered that. thanks for any input you guys have, it's very much appreciated!(:

Something like session view and the Launchpad will be great for quickly sketching out song ideas, no reason you can then drag those into arrange view for the final arranging and tweaks though. Going to logic isn't going to really help on this front, since you have the same workflow and most of the tools in Live's arrange view. If you haven't used it much, then by all means start there since you already have Live and know it. Logic is a good app, but it can be complex and will take some time to get up to speed on. No need to go that route yet when you have tools at your disposal that will get the job done just as well for now.
