Drum Racks and MIDI Clips
Drum Racks and MIDI Clips Posted on: 24.12.2011 by Rosamaria Alamin I used to use session controls (a.k.a., the APC Red Box) to move around the session view and launch clips MPC style from my controller. This sucked donkey balls for actual drumming, however, so I decided to use drum racks too. Now here's a problem: Ableton won't compile a python script with any double mapped buttons. So I comment out the red box stuff and go pure drum rack. No problem as far as samples/audio clips go, but the drum rack won't take midi clips, which is about 98% of what I have.In short, I have a grid of 4 x 4 buttons I want to use for drumming AND clip launch of all types. Can anybody give me advice on how to get this done? | |

Glennis Bischoff 29.12.2011 | hey ma, i know what your looking for. EXACTLY. i had the same problem when i was looking there, and unfortunately, i couldn't solve it. i own the APC40, and was deeply saddened to learn that you can use it in mapped mode (red box) or you can map to another button via basic midi... but you cant really have both. ive seen videos of complex mappings for step sequencers and stuff, in other "Pages" of the controller, but as far as devices (like a drum rack), i haven't seen any possibility. a good walk around is to make your drum rack a separate midi track, and pre- record midi values, and play it as a clip. -bloodhound |
