Okay so now that I'm gettin more serious about producing I decided to start getting some VSTs if I install them on my external will I be able to use them on another computer if need to?

Like I'm working on a project everything saved on external and VST is installed on external can I go over to my friends house and work on it? since I have all files and VST on external?

Some VSTs could be taken with you. You could just scan for them where they're stored on your external drive in Live's preferences on his computer.

Others, like anything Ableton sells as add-ons (e.g. Operator, Analog) or most VSTs that can operate as stand-alone pieces of software (e.g. Native Instruments Maschine and Massive) need to be authorized on the computer they are running on. To run Max for Live devices, he would need to own Max for Live.

If you are using Live, and have every part of the project (samples, VSTs, devices) saved on an external drive, and he also has Live and the same add-ons, yes.
