The waveforms of my tracks are small in Traktor
The waveforms of my tracks are small in Traktor Posted on: 28.02.2012 by Clarinda Schwimer Hi guys.Ok an interesting one....all my tracks when I load them into traktor....they all seem to have small waveforms compared to other tracks I have that I load in. And I cant figure out why..... Maybe I compress them too much, they arent loud enough or not loud in comparison to another. I dont know.... Any ideas? Edit..... P.S....Here is an example; http://soundcloud.com/essbeedee/essbeedee-loco Its loud enough, definitely...but there is something thats making the overall waveform smaller in Traktor..... | |

Clarinda Schwimer 28.02.2012 | Ah....that might have somethin to do with it...still strange that a wav shows up small but an mp3 is full size.... |
Marshall Aby 28.02.2012 | Hmmm. Maybe it's a quirk of Traktor. It can store the gain level of the track in the MP3 tag, but it can't in the WAV. |
Joselyn Supina 27.02.2012 | It almost looks like the track was normalized or had a limiter run on it before converting to mp3. It does look a little weird. However, looking at it again, the shape of the wav form looks the same...normally normalize or a limiter will blow the wave form out for the most part. Is there a gain or loudness function in Switch? I have no experience with that program. I use Max to convert, but usually just my mixes, never compared the two wav forms in traktor. |
Clarinda Schwimer 27.02.2012 | I use a program called Switch to convert the tracks to MP3, its an audio converter for mac. And the Normalise option is turned off..... |
Joselyn Supina 27.02.2012 | Do you normalize the track or do anything with a limiter before making the track an mp3? The mp3 looks like it's had Normalize RMS run on it. |
Clarinda Schwimer 27.02.2012 | Ah ok I jus noticed something.....When i loaded in the WAV file it was small.....When i load in the MP3 its bigger....this is weird!!!!!! Here is a pic to show u what I mean http://i40.tinypic.com/foos2a.png WAV on the left, MP3 on the right. How weird!!!!! |
Tatum Ansaldo 27.02.2012 | Looks fine, what exactly is the problem? In what way are they smaller? Maybe put up another pic of what another track that you believe is right looks like? |
Clarinda Schwimer 27.02.2012 | Uploaded a picture for you guys... http://i39.tinypic.com/121ybkh.png |
