Beat Gridding Problems

Hi

I'm new to using Traktor Pro but have got a bit of experience using scratch. Recently got an S4 and have been finding beat gridding tunes to be a bit hit and miss.

I have switched off the auto grid function and have been setting 1 grid marker on the first beat and another on the second. I'm only trying to grid house, techno and breakbeat at the moment so nothing that should really go out of time or change tempo throughout but I've been finding that when I've been expanding and shrinking the grid to try and make it fit future beats the whole grid seems to get pulled out the more I do this.

Is the track just completely at the wrong speed which is leading this to happen?

Am I meant to reset the grid as such when I change the speed by altering the grid to try to compensate?

This has happened on a couple of tunes but the one I keep trying is Soul Vibrates by Plump DJs.

I have looked through a few online video tutorials but none of them seem to cover what to do if the tune goes out really out of sync by seemingly being too fast and too slow in the same piece of music.

I've been tearing my hear out over this over the past few evening s so any help or pointers in the right direction would be really appreciated.

Cheers

ive had similar problems with traktor pro...dunno why its worse in there than previous versions.

but usually i beat grid in the first few bars...then go to the end of the track and usually its a little bit off and i fix that by adjusting the bpm a few ticks. this works 99% of the time for me.

Thanks, that has helped a bit. The track has gone in time much easier now

It isn't possible to beatgrid multiple tempos in one track. For those, just label the BPM's in your comments or the title.

Otherwise, you should really let Traktor do automatic beat grids. For your style of music, it will get it right 90% of the time. If you notice the beatgrid is off, simply hit the "tap" button to the beat for a while and it will autocorrect. Then, delete the grid and place the grid marker on the first beat (if that's where you want it) - it will remember the BPM in the process.

It's pretty rare that you have to manually expand/contract the beatgrid.
