Samples and loops How do you use them?
Samples and loops How do you use them? Posted on: 20.06.2012 by Tonisha Rayman So i'm trying to learn how to produce lol I've been wondering for the longest time. How do you use loops and samples? What do you use them with or what are the steps to working with them. | |

Yee Bedilion 01.07.2012 | I just started using traktor again and this is the work flow I'm working on. Originally, I wanted to 2 deck mix, lay cue points on the fly to what i consider interesting. On the mix out, copy to deck C and record the cue point juggle with the loop record and then copy to a sample deck. When I went to apply to my djm-900 it didn't work out for me. I was missing something/still am. So earlier this evening I had an idea. Really it was a change in the order of operations. I'm currently remapping my midi fighter classic in 4 banks to control traktor be able to switch abs/rel/int on each deck, change focus of time code, emergency deck control, basic sample controls, a couple effects and browsing to replace the X1. I dont utilize the knobs on the X1 and I have this weird OCD with using all the controls on a midi controller. So now, im experimenting with this flow: -grab some interesting vocals or sounds with cues -grab a loop out of current song(8 or 16) - copy it to sample deck -to the ninja sneak deck switch -start mix with incoming song -use some light juggling to keep energy up til new song takes over w/ or w/o effects deck C gunna be one shots, deck D gunna be loops. hopefully I'll get djm to set midi clock for traktor tomorrow. You can set the bpm by holding tap and turning the timing knob, and if you press tap and small button to the left of it you can set the 0.0-0.9 range of bpm. accurate enough for me. Check out the old video of ean doing 5 mixing techniques. -http://www.djranking s.com/2010/03/1...ix-techniques/ |

Tonisha Rayman 21.06.2012 | Thanks I'll give it a look always been wondering how to work with loop packs. |
Leeanna Ayla 21.06.2012 | Check out the Tom Cosm stuff on youtube or his facebook page. He's pretty good at showing you how to sculpt those packs and other stuff into what you want. He had one where he wrote his name in Ableton and made it sound halfway decent. |
Tonisha Rayman 21.06.2012 | Well personally I don't that's why i'm trying to figure out another way to use them it seems just to simple and lame to do something like that. If anyone has a guide/video or tips on how to do it i'd love that |
Georgina Schatzman 20.06.2012 | Sure, you can do that. No one's saying you can't. The question is, do you really wanna go down that route? |
Tonisha Rayman 20.06.2012 | lets saying i'm trying to make a song and i download some dubstep loop pack. I don't just drop the loop into an audio slot and play it as part of a song do i? o.O |
Georgina Schatzman 20.06.2012 | There are 101 ways to use loops and samples, all depends on what you need done |
