Sub Focus Bassline

Sub Focus Bassline

Sorry if this has already been posted but I haven't been able to find anything on it.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about making or at least start making the Sub Focus type bass.

An example of what I'm talking about is in his Ghosts N Stuff remix, around 1:07.

Its less obvious but still there in Rock It, around 1:50

I've been trying to get the sound using Massive and Sylenth1, but so far I haven't even been close.
If anyone has any idea on this please let me know!
Thanks!

Jeez, I guess I'll have to give it a go...

Thanks so much for your input!

Massive,
1) Osc 1 sine wave for sub
2) Osc 2, Cicada/Lunacy (in the FX/Chords column on the right), low amp
3) Modulation tab, put phase modulation on the 2nd osc (a bit)
4) Record
5) Split frequencies
6) Modulate with tons of FX/distortion (tiny steps each time).
7) Repeat steps 4,5 and 6
8) Repeat steps 4,5,6 and 7
9) Listen to the final result

If it sucks, start again.

What you get from synths is important, because not having a nice sound at start for resampling is like putting lipstick on a pig..
And this hole thing (I don't master it unfortunately) is pretty much hit or miss. You will miss alot, but if it was easy it wouldn't be as rewarding.

Good luck ahaha

PS : about this whole thing, a guy on youtube helps me alot with his videos.

He has a british accent, but the fact that he's believeing out loud and explains everything makes you want to forgive him ahahaha

Its definitely a sub with a layered synth over top.
Yeah that's what I was fiddling around with. Mostly a sub with some sort of distorted sawtooth. Thanks for the reply!

But those sounds are what separates an am from a pro. Your best bet would be to try and make a similar sound in massive yourself.. by ear.

Yeah I saw those, unfortunately those sounds aren't quite what I'm after. Thanks though!
