hey fellow maschine owners - question about inputs from internal sources and daws Posted on: 10.09.2012 by Rebbecca Fennell so ive been tinkering with my maschine/apc40/hardware/ableton base template for writing and jamming, and i ran into a bit of a minor set back, im hoping some input from other users may shed some light on this...so ive got 2 hardware drum machines going into my computer via an old audio 4 soundcard; that audio goes into channels on ableton that are routed internally into maschine with the input module; now i want to route the audio from my ableton sends into 3 input modules in maschine; and this is where i hit the wall the input module only offers me 4 internal inputs, so what i want to know - why only 4? is this based on my soundcard? or is this an across the board software limitation? been using my apc as solely a mixing surface and want to stay within the confines of a one to one philosophy - the apc is labeled for 3 sends, and being able to: have everything actually do what its labeled PLUS be able to load and control fx on every channel including the sends FROM maschine alone - well that'd be the shit. so yeah - whats the source of this limitation? my soundcard or is it just a lame ass limitation? | |
Rebbecca Fennell 10.09.2012 | so reviewing what you said at my computer i feel like theres got to be a misunderstanding in here, as what youre saying isnt working for me, hopefully a screen cap may make it easier to spot what i am doing wrong blergh.jpg audio is going to maschine, but ableton only gives me an option of 4 ins, theyre all in use, no more appear either in maschine or in ableton |

Rebbecca Fennell 13.09.2012 | Yeah at least I know I'm not going crazy, could have sworn remembering that it was 16 in 16 out. Oh well, guess I'll just have to learn to live with only 2 sends and a shit ton of insert effects... :P |
Dorie Scelzo 11.09.2012 | Weird. I thought I remembered more inputs than that, but when I look at Maschine now, I only see 4 pairs of inputs. I wonder if I remembered it wrong or if it changed. At any rate, all I can say it to check in the audio/midi settings in maschine and Live………maybe somebody else who still uses Live can chime in. I'd check in PT, but I don't have my iLok with me. |

Rebbecca Fennell 10.09.2012 | hmm interesting, so any idea what im doing wrong? its being hosted with in ableton, and for my routing i have the audio going to the channel hosting maschine, but within ableton when i go the second drop box to tell it where specifically i want my audio to go it only lists 4 ins, and when i go to maschine and load up an input module "internal" gives me no further options and after that it just scrolls thru those 4 ins that show up in ableton |
Dorie Scelzo 10.09.2012 | If Maschine is hosted as a plugin inside Live, you have 16 stereo ins and outs available. You send them to the Ableton Channel that's hosting Maschine and then to it's inputs, which is in the Live menu. Then, after they're connected, you'll see them show up in Maschine. If you're running Maschine separate from Live, then it's more complicated. |
