Old School Freestyle/Cypher Kinda Beat

Something straightforward -- just a little thing to throw up and just start freestyling to:

I do Cypher contest every month and this was going to be the beat for this month's cypher but I switched it out at the last minute for something with more variance

The beat is split into two sections which are essentially the same -- like I said, it's just supposed to be something for a quick two-part freestyle type of a thing, not like a full-on track; so for it is, just like a freeverse type of beat, I actually really like how it came out

I produce edm- breaks dnb, etc.. but have a real love for old school + 90's hip hop and freestyle..

And these kind of beats I love to make but I have no rappers so I don't make them much.

Check out a little mix I put up a while ago of some original beats (10 loop type deals I believe). Was fun, I'd like to make more.

The phrase that starts at 2:26 in your soundcloud link is DOPE -- definitely my favorite movement

As for the contest -- it's just a monthly thing where I throw up a beat on my YouTube for people to record verses to and then choose a winner for a cash-prize -- geared towards rappers as opposed to producers; the reason I actually started the contests (~3 months ago) was an attempt to attract more rappers to my music b/c I have the same problem of not knowing many rappers personally but I do enjoy listening to hip-hop instrumentally so the beats I make, even without a rapper on them, I'm completely satisfied with

I don't know if they still do it consistently but you might want to check out http://www.sundaysample.com/ -- if you get onto their facebook page they post a sample and everyone posts up their "flip" of the sample. It's all just for fun but it's a really good way to stay motivated and keep you practicing
