Bought first pair of monitors, need help with sound card/audio interface
Posted on: 08.01.2013 by Sheri Knoche
So I recently just bought the M-Audio BX5 D2 Monitor Speakers. I've been producing for a little while now and feel as if it's time to upgrade to monitors. However, I can't find anything on the internet definitive enough to help me out with finding a proper sound card so I'm posting here for help. I'm looking for a sound card that isn't too cheap; I want great quality for a reasonable price ($60-$140). I also would like some help on what cables I need. I know the BX5 Speakers have XLR and TRS outputs, and I also know that not all sound cards have those inputs. So just post some options please, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

I agree with Tarekith, you could even consider the Presonus 22VSL, it has really good pre amps for it's price. Don't worry to Much about the cable being TRS or XLR, they both Balanced, I do know that both the Focusrite 2i2 and 22VSL have Jack outputs on em so that would be the cable you would need. I recommend HOSA there is a large selection of cable options from them, just make sure you get Audio Cable.

Also, the sound card has the outputs, the speakers have the inputs. Check out some of the focusrite cards, good bang for the buck.

You need an amp or level mixer for your monitors, a sound card is for a controller/mixer.
