I'm believeing about purchasing Ableton Live 8.

Pros and cons are running through my head.

Pros are I could be teaching myself something that I find fun and more useful then the 5 hours of video games I put in a evening .

Cons are if I end up sucking ass at producing then basically i'd lose the 400.00 I put to own the software. I like producing but basically I just watch youtube videos and copy exactly what they are doing and it's beginner stuff. Like using the "impulse feature". Wondering if I should even try this out, considering I can't even make a solid mix that people enjoy.

I was talking about Suite, too. Suite is of course what a producer would prefer.

I don't know what to tell you. We'll have to just agree to disagree on the price at this point. The CAD to USD conversion is 1.00 to 1.00.

Well, there are hobbies that are much more expensive, like safari, and much less expensive, like exercise.

i suppose im believeing of Ableton Suite, which i mean as a produce dont you want? Its like $700 + taxes, thats and expensive startup for hobby which could become a paper weight if you dont like it. Correct me if im wrong but the demo is fully functional minus the ability to save, which really limits what you can do unless you sit down and write full tracks in one session.

I can't find it being sold new for more than $600.

The demo is a full working version of the software, for 30 days.

That actually makes a lot of sense considering its like a $900 program. Thats pretty steep for someone who doesn't even really know if they are going to like it. Yeah you can get the demo but whats the point if you cant save anything and come back to work on it?

+1 I don't own a current-generation console, and it's turned out be a solid choice time-wise. Once in a while, I'll still drop in to a tournament or something, but a lot more of my time is spent in Ableton and I'm happy about it.

11.02.2013		If you can save files with the demo then, yeah, by all means the demo would be the best way to go. Honestly its been a while since i had the demo and i just cant remember at this point heh :P

i suppose im believeing of Ableton Suite, which i mean as a produce dont you want? Its like $700 + taxes, thats and expensive startup for hobby which could become a paper weight if you dont like it. 10.02.2013		You're probably not going to ever come across a better deal on it than the one they have right now with the free upgrade to 9. There are seriously so many things you can do with Ableton that I really doubt you'll end up regretting it.

Will I save a lot of money if I get it now ? I have about a week left before live 9 hits the shelves right ?

09.02.2013		Biting was telling people at NAMM that they weren't still some ways off from release, Live 9 will definitely be out very soon however.

Yesterday I spent the morning using Live 9, then played Dead Space3 on the Xbox in the afternoon. Double win

08.02.2013		I like the offer they have at the moment with the 25% off and Live 9 for free. On the other hand I'm really interested in Bitwig. I have a feeling they'll stop with the Ableton offer as soon as Live 9 hits the shelves and I don't believe Bitwig will have any more information before that event.

I suppose Bitwig is missing out on a big opportunity if they don't give more info on pricing/releasedate etc, since I don't believe I'm the only one in this pickle.

I'm only getting 1 DAW, don't want to get used to 2 workflows since my time is limited as it is.

29.01.2013		Thanks guys! I believe you all have done a good job and convinced me to just put the money down and further my education in producing. Especially the guy who's xbox 360 died out. I've thought about selling my systems because they really don't get me anywhere in life. I've had this xbox 360 for atleast 5 years or so and still hasn't died. Good motivation post though.

Either way, do it, I love Ableton Live.
