syncin two traktor pro set ups

My partner and I have synced two mac book pro's running Traktor Pro (version 1.1.2) using Midi cables connecting our separate Audio 8 DJ's. We both use the black VCI-100 SE with the 2_2_8 .tsi midi mapping file.

Everything would be great, but somehow the person(computer) sending the MIDI clock ends up controlling certain functions on the other guys VCI-100?

How can we avoid this?

Hi there Jimi,

You need to make sure that Traktor is only sending a midi sync to the other traktor and not all the output LED data that Traktor also sends.

To do this use a program like Bomes or midi-ox that will swallow all the incomming midi messages except for timecode messages and pass these on to the other computer.

To be perfectly honest with you though midi-sync is that great. You get a much tighter sync and for longer by setting both computers to the same tempo on the master, both sync to your master clocks. Then use one of the computers master pitch bend buttons to pitch bend the two traktors into time with one another.

If you need to do tempo changes then i would suggest having 1 midi knob control control both Traktor's tempo at the same time. When your getting into this sort of territory you need to have a good understanding of how midi works and how to route it.
