Alternative to DIY upgrade?
Posted on: 11.11.2008 by Sasha Alexander
Hi everybody,

I bought a new VCI-100 from eBay and it seems like I have firmware v1.1 installed. I'm aware of the fact that Ean's upgrade kit will let me switch between 1.3 and 1.2 but since I only need 1.2 with TPro, I don't see much use in buying it.

I contacted Vestax with my problem, but they didn't reply yet. Maybe someone around here can help me with my questions:
  • Is it possible to mail the unit in for a firmware upgrade?
  • How much will it cost?
  • Will I have to send it to Japan? What's the turnaround time?

No hate for the upgrade kit here, but I disassembled a KORG midi controller once to fix a minor technical issue and after a few months the rotary encoders stopped working, so I'm not a really a fan of diy repairs (although this incident may also account to the microKontrol's crappy build quality).

Thanks in advance and great site btw.

I know this thread is old, but I am asking the same question. Is there a place to have the VCI100 firmware upgraded?

It seems that the upgrade kit is out of stock at this time.

I just ordered the overlay and I would love to get 1.3 installed.

Seems strange that DJ TT would not have an option to send in your unit and have it upgraded. What is even stranger is that you have to dismantle the unit for a software upgrade....(c'mon vestax) but anyway...

Anybody in the LA area have the upgrade kit and willing to help a DJ out?

thank you!

Hey thanks for the hint. Although when you say "track down" does this imply that v1.2 is hard to find? A quick google search returned no download links.
If someone has it lying around I would appreciate it if you could upload it somewhere or send it to me via e-mail:

Hey Gfocus,

If you really dont want the 1.3 firmware you can track down the 1.2 firmware and use that with the upgrade, so you dont have to force it into 1.2 mode everytime you start it up.

[...] so I came in a shopping mood and bought the upgrade kit.

And that is why this thread is now obsolete?

Yes.
