Vci-100se on a PC
Vci-100se on a PC Posted on: 19.07.2009 by Nella Curvin Hey Guys! I purchased a DJTT vci-100se w/ 1.3 firmware upgrade from a friend who used it on a mac notebook.I'm using a dell e1505 with all the recommended optimizations from native-instruments and an upgrade from traktor 3.4 to traktor pro.I 'm using a numark djio soundcard with this setup also. I've downloaded all the .tks files you require. My problem is i can't get my dell to recognize the vci midi.i'm not the most computer savvy person on the planet so i took my setup to a dj buddy who is a computer whiz and had him try to work it out. after following all of the instructions from NI and your community we can't get the vci to work. Can you help? The unit was first used with a mac notebook. Will i have to reformat the vci? Is this possible? i understand from your community there are no drivers so what is the problem? maybe you could help with a step by step installation guide...Thanks for any info you can provide!cool: | |

Vernon Positano 31.08.2009 | Glad you got it working anyway. So you are saying you are getting the freezes still with midi out turned off ? That usually fixes the usual freezes. As for a gold plated USB cable with ferrite.. They certainly can't help, but you may well find its not going to help you and is money you didnt need to spend. As for firmware upgrades, check out the youtube video ean did.. its a pretty forward process if you follow it carefully, and I did mine in under 10 minutes. Finally.. mappings.. you should fine plenty on here. You can either go with the 'official DJTT' mappings, but that usually needs the overlay so you know what buttons do what! I've also done a few mappings, and about to post my next one shortly. These are designed for both 1.2 and 1.3 firmwares, without the need for an overlay. |

I am buying a new USB gold plated cable and have ordered a couple of ferrites which im sure will help! I have been waiting for my mate to sell me his MBP but he has decided not to sell now so im looking for a used MBP as im sure i wont have any of these problems (windows seems to be the biggest pain in the ass) But can u advise me on mapping and Firmware upgrades and how do i go about getting the installing them ? Sorry if what i am asking is simple stuff but once i know how to do it it will make things a lot easier Cheers |
Vernon Positano 31.08.2009 | Turning off midi out on its own made your VCI come to life ? Thats wierd. Did you turn midi out back on after ? That could be why you are getting the freezes. Let us know. As for the jogwheels, you can adjust the sensitivity of the jogs with the knobs on the back of the unit.. but be warned.. these seem to be manufactured poorly, and lots of people have said that after only one use, they have come off! |
Esperanza Marwitz 31.08.2009 | Thanks for the reply dude! I actually got mine working last evening - firstly turned off midi out so that made the vci come to life and for some reason after leaving the laptop alone for 5 mins it then recognised my fast track pro. I had the same problem with channels so switch them over and it worked fine however, my vci still freezes up and has to be turned off during mix (had to do that about 3 times in one hour) Another thing i have noticed is that in vinyl mode my jog wheels arent half as responsive as they were when i was runnning T3 LE on my G5 mac! I need to obviously change the mapping ? upgrade the firmware to version 1.3 ? Not sure how to do change mapping and upgrade firmware, not overally tech savvy and quie new to digi Djing but must say its a lot more enjoyable than using my old techs with serato! Any help from anyone to get my set up sorted would be greatly appreciated! Cheers |
Vernon Positano 31.08.2009 | Hey me_dj, Glad you got your problem sorted, but thats nothing to do with the VCI |
Nella Curvin 31.08.2009 | lukey i changed the rca cables i was using. i had a gig last evening
at a house party and when i set up i had the same problem.i text the friend that helped me the last time and he told me he switched the rca outputs on the audio4dj. Here is the setup from my numark cdmmix2 & audio 4dj: cdmix2-channel 1 output to 3/4 output on audio4dj (ch.B) cdmix2-channel 2 output to 1/2 output on audio4dj (ch.A) I had them connected ch.1 cdmix to ch.a on audio4dj. ch.2 cdmix to ch.b on audio4dj this connection made the hdph level knob act as the master volume.I had no crossfader or deck volume faders. The hdph buttons had to be pushed to get sound to the p.a. That Sucked! so when i switched to the current confiq it works just fine,so go fiqure.I am far from being tech savvy so i rolled with what worked and got thru the gig and it was all good. So there you go it sounds ass backwards but it got me through. I,m looking to upgrade my mixer.I'm going to borrow a buddies mixer and see if the problem is there...so far it works with the connections the way they currently are setup. if this doesn't make sense to any of you let me know, i need the feedback...........me dj |
Vernon Positano 31.08.2009 | lukey, you having similar problems ? |
Esperanza Marwitz 30.08.2009 | Hey me dj How did u get it sorted in the end just out of curiousity ? |
Nella Curvin 29.08.2009 | Yo Dj Moonie I'm up and running all's good.I,ve worked on a few mixes and the vci is workin' sweet! I got a house party saturday evening
,can't wait to work it! Thanks for the info...............peace!...............me dj |
Vernon Positano 28.08.2009 | Before you do that... the first thing to do is to break down where the problem is. You may need your techy savvy mate to help:- 1) Does the device get recognised in windows device manager (It normally appears as 'usb audio device' and not vci-100. If it is in the list, double click on it and see if it says 'this device is installed and working correctly'. 2) If the device is missing, try a different USB port or cable. Don't use an unpowered USB hub. Then repeat 1. 3) If the device now appears correctly, but still isn't seen in traktor.. (It will appear in traktor as 'usb audio device [emulated]' and not 'VCI-100'. Then onto 4. 4) Install Midi-Ox and see if it can see the controller. (Options-> Midi Devices) If it can, try moving a jog wheel and see if data appears on your midi-ox screen. 5) Do you have a logitech webcam installed, or had at any time in the past. If so, this can cause problems with the VCI, do I google search for logitech and vci-100 and you'll find posts with the solutions. Cheers Moonie |
20.07.2009 | You may want to try a fresh install of a brand new user account with very little installed. That might work- or if you can afford it a fresh install of the computer with bare bones drivers. Some driver is conflicting with your VCi-100 |
Nella Curvin 19.07.2009 | By the way I,m using XP Home as the op system on the dell e1505. |
