Regular SE vs Arcade Edition SE
Regular SE vs Arcade Edition SE Posted on: 17.08.2009 by Shaina Condley Hi all,Am new here and was trying to order the VCI-100SE and it was 'SOLD OUT'...but i noticed theres a Arcade Version...now my question is: Is it worth paying about $300 more for the Arcade Version? Or should I get the regular SE and upgrade it myself to save about $200? Is the Arcade version made in the factories instead of regular SE's upgraded by DJTech staffs instead? Sorry for being too straight forward with the questions! Just curious and would like to know more about the difference and if its worth getting SE or Arcade...very anxious to get one by this week. Cheers, New Guy | |

Shaina Condley 19.08.2009 | I guess I have till September to debate on which one to get...SE or Arcade since it is available then. Thanks all for input...hope it is available sooner... Cheers, New Guy |
de Riedmatten Gauthier 19.08.2009 | I believe they would cost ALOT more if they were factorymade (the Arcade versions). I would by anytime rather support djTT than some factory |
19.08.2009 | The arcade editions and SE's are all done by hand here in san francisco by me, phil or andy. I personally check and sign each one. A lot of care and time goes into each one. |
Shaina Condley 18.08.2009 | Thx for info and feedback!...Am wondering if the Arcade versions are really modified by DJTeam staff or actually machine premade within the factories...! Cheers New Guy |
Xavier Emanuels 17.08.2009 | I ended up modding mine all by hand personally, it was a pain in the ass and $200 to have someone do all the drilling, soldering would have been a very tempting option - especially in hind sight after doing it all myself. Shame when i did mine that DJTT were never offering this service ! |
AllainRauen AyaRauen 17.08.2009 | Hey New Guy! The main difference between the VCI-100SE and VCI-100 Arcade Edition are the arcade buttons. The premium you pay for the Arcade Edition goes mainly towards the work involved with making such a highly customized controller. Each one takes quite a bit of time and modifying the controller in such a manner is not an easy process. The arcade buttons really do add a new element to the controller. More surface area, higher sensitivity and overall nicer feeling make them great for precise beat juggling/cue triggering. I'll let any of our Arcade Edition owners rant about them here. All of the VCI-100s we sell are either put through the "SE" process or the "Arcade" process here at our workshops in San Francisco. We offer the "Do it Yourself" Arcade Mod Kit for regular VCI-100 and VCI-100SE owners, but unless you are well versed in modifying electronics, soldering, and punching holes in aluminum (or have a local machine shop that is), then it's generally not a recommended procedure for first time VCI owners. FYI we expect a new batch of VCI-100SEs to be in stock sometime early September. Not confirmed yet, but sometime around then seems likely. Hope this answers your questions!
