Question regarding USB to seriel
Posted on: 16.10.2009 by Hildegarde Rateliff
I just purchased the upgradekit from DJTT a week ago, been looking for ages to find a PC with seriel on. So i was wondering, what if you use a USB to seriel, what bad can't it do to your VCI-100? If broken will the warranty be lost in space or?

In terms of bricking the VCI that will never happen because you use a certain usb serial or serial to serial cable, when working with like electronics you must be very careful not to let the circuit boards come into contact with each other or with the case. Paper is a pretty good way of insulating the boards well you have it opened, plastic will work but has increased risk of static damage.
The VCI-100 was upgraded successfully , and must say the 1.3 firmware is awesome.

Yes that may just have been my fault but thought i would mention it, personally if i was to try again it would be using a serial to serial cable.

Happily it's back and working better than ever, but it's also being replaced by a Xone 4D which should arrive next week.
