anyone get this
anyone get this Posted on: 29.10.2009 by Arron Besteder the shop I took it to said he couldnt make the files on the cd ""work", and that he will have to "draw" it up himself, but it will be ok.Should I let him continue or race over there before the first cut is made? has anyone else had problems with the machine shop saying the cut guide files are unusable? That is why I spent the extra $15 on top of the layout just to get the exact cut guides on the cd so it would be seamless for the shop now i dont know what route to take | |

Arron Besteder 31.10.2009 | Thanks for the advice, by the time I figured out what to do he made the first cut, but the good news is the finished product is slick. I actually got to the shop as he was finishing the last of the cuts and was able to see the process in action and speak with the owner of the shop about how it was done. He told me that his CNC machine is over ten years old and its much slower and technologically inept compared to the current machines, which is why the files wouldnt work great.Took a leap of faith. I provided the operator with the buttons to test and the overlay to line everything up and he drew up a cutting plan for the arcade holes. The machine actually uses a wire with an electrical current and water to cut. the results were impressive and I paid the guy $65 and was on my way. I'm finishing the mod today and will post pics ASAP. Thanks again greatmesk and EanGolden for the quick response and advice, much appreciated |
30.10.2009 | if they cant make a "cad" file work then they are not a very good shop and dont have modern computer based gear
. You can let them draw it up but the results will be really un-predictable. Cutting off the CAD file with a water jet is the best and most reliable way (its how we do it) but its expensive unless you are doing 20-30 a time. |
Myrtle Billegas 29.10.2009 | Dont, i repeat, dont let them "re-draw" the cutting-plan. There was a thread here where a maschine shop f***ed a vci cause they wanted to do it their way. Definitely a bad idea bro. |
