2.4 Overlays. Will they ever return?
2.4 Overlays. Will they ever return? Posted on: 11.12.2009 by Ammie Carol I am purchasing a vci-100 from my local dj store in the comming weeks and due to this it will be a stock vci-100.I really like the current 2.4 layout and i was wondering if there will be any chance in the future of purchasing a 2.4 layout overlay for the vci-100. I realize you are bringing in the new 3.0 mapping with overlays but i was hoping that the 2.4 will possibly still be available? The main reason i ask is because of this awesome video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5IfY1IBbh4 i was hoping to reproduce exactly that routine, but i fear that with a completely new mapping and overlay i will not be able to? if this is not the case and i will still be able to create a mix like this, then i will be more than glad to purchase a 3.0 overlay i am currently though not sure? Although as a final quick question, i will requre to purchase a firmware upgrade kit yes? As the 1.2 stock firmware does not work with your controller mappings? Am i correct in saying this? Because i guess thats something else i have to purchase now! haha, thanks for any help! | |

Ammie Carol 11.12.2009 | sweet, thanks tons for all the help! defineatly going to pick up a vci 100 then! was either that or a reloop dj2, but the vci defineatly seems like the better option purely because of the great customization and these custom mappings! thanks for all the work eangolden as well, if it wasn't for all your work on this device i highly doubt i would be picking one up haha! |
11.12.2009 | the core part of your question is " can I do that routine with the new version" the answer is yes- for sure and in fact you can probably do it easier with the new version so I would upgrade for sure. The only thing that will be lost in 3_0 is fader FX mode. we have managed to keep everything else and just add more great features |

Leota Saniuk 11.12.2009 | i believe there are some issues with the fader fx mode and juggle mode with FW 1.2 .. not sure though. |
Ammie Carol 11.12.2009 | yeah i was believeing i might just do that, not the proffered solution, but its a solution at least! ive already downloaded and saved the 2.5 mapping for traktor pro 1.2.1 and the high resolution image of the overlay, so thats all i should need really. also with a stock 1.2 firmware for the vci-100 will that work with the 2.5 mapping in traktor pro? or do i need to purchase the upgrade kit immediately before i can use the 2.5 custom mapping? thanks tons aswell lsmith for your help |
Leota Saniuk 11.12.2009 | i rarely look at the overlay really. you can quickly learn what is where with just a printout next to your vci-100. maybe not so practical in a club .. but should be fine when practicing at home. |
