Crossfader problems
Posted on: 06.04.2010 by Yael Segneri
I got my VCI-100 SE sometime in early Feb of this year from DJ TechTools. I have been scratching with it for awhile (setting the C.F. curve to the far left and moving the crossfader while scratching on the jog wheel).

Lately, I notice that whenever the crossfader in the far-most right position, it tends to pull back to the left even if I haven't touched it. It quickly jerks back to the left when the crossfader is all the way to the far right. I can scratch, but it's not as accurate as before (basically more unnecessary scratches).

I have tried lubricating the crossfader twice, but no luck. Help, please! =/

I email DJTT and they were pretty cool about everything. Shipped me a new cross fader in less than a week.

It was uber easy to replace. Maybe when this one goes bad I'll get an innofader.

I just noticed that mine has the exact same problem. It's only like 5 months old. I purchased an Arcade Edition from DJTT. So dropping close to 1 G on a product to start acting wonky after 5 months sucks.

I'll be contacting them directly since I have that Warranty because I purchased it from them.

Lubricating won't help if there is dust or other small debris inside, it will just make it worse as it tends to clump the stuff together. The best way is to open the controller and clean the components in alcohol and water

I too have the exact same problem with my crossfader. It seems like a physical contact problem with the slide on the track, as the fader will glitch back to the center and then back to the right. I've opened up my VCI, and because of the way that the crossfader is constructed, disassembling would be a real pain and require de-soldering/re-soldering (the fader housing is clamped over a PCB which is soldered onto another PCB). I would imagine that a replacement could be purchased, though I haven't seen anything exact online. I have seen other replacement Vestax sliders here:

I just found this article as well, which goes into detail about swapping the stock fader out with a nicer one:

Anyone else have any ideas?
