Broken right channel fader (upfader)
Posted on: 09.05.2010 by Antone Chewning
I was just in the middle of mixing yesterday with my Vestax VCI-100 (with which I haven't had any problems) and all of the sudden the right channel fader (upfader) stopped working and the left upfader moved both at the same time. Thinking it might be a problem with traktor pro or my software, I shut off my computer and turned it back on as well as restarting the VCI-100 and the right upfader still didn't work and the left one moved both. I even tried it in Virtual DJ and nothing. Furthermore, moving the right upfader doesn't even send any MIDI information. Is this a common issue because I can't find anything on it? I don't know what to do because I ordered it through Amazon.com about 5 months ago so I don't believe I'm covered by any warranty or anything. Help would very much be appreciated. Thank you.

Cleaning the fader is certainly your first option.
You could also try swapping them over and see if it still happens on the same fader.

At least then you'll know if its the fader or the circuit board.

thanks for the suggestion, i'll try it. im just worried its something internally wrong with the hardware, otherwise i dont know why when i move the left channel fader it would move both (on traktor) at the same time. but ill try it out

try cleaning the fader with isopropanol (70% alcohol), otherwise you can replace it.
just search for fader replacement on the community s..
