Getting the VCI-100SE to work with Traktor Pro
Posted on: 07.06.2010 by Tami Champlin
I've been googling and searching and I'm still yet to figure out how to get this working. The computer recognizes the device in the control manager. The MIDI light goes on when I press buttons on the VCI-100SE. When I go into preferences>controller manager, I select the VCI-100SE from the device list. I then import the TSI file and nothing happens. It just automatically closes the window and reverts back to the Generic Keyboard with no mappings.

Any help?

Yep I was on 1.2.1 ... upgraded to 1.2.4 and everything is great.

What version of TP are you using? This sounds like a problem with pre 1.2.4.

Again, don't worry about Generic Keyboard being on the top of the list, it is not a priority list. As long as your VCI is detected (CTRL lights on Traktor title bar when you press a button) and your ports are set, it is all good.

Still nothing, it constantly reverts back to generic keyboard with nothing in the assignment table.

I will assume you want to import the DJTT mapping.

First use the BIG import button at the bottom of the preferences window. Next, click Controller Mappings and select the VCI from the drop down menu. Don't worry about the Generic Keyboard being the top of the list, it was just the first one made when assembling this TSI, so it appears first on the list. After selecting the VCI, set both the In and Out Port to Vestax. This is the critical stage so that Traktor only associates commands for the TSI to the VCI, if you don't do this things will likely not work well (or at all).

Now set your audio settings to your soundcard, ensure that Internal mixing is selected and you should be ready to go.

You may need to shut down Traktor and start it again as the TSI is very big with a certain level of complexity. This may require Traktor to read it a couple of times before it gets it 100%.

Let us know if this helps.

Phil.
