connect vci-100 to audio 4 dj to a macbook pro?
connect vci-100 to audio 4 dj to a macbook pro? Posted on: 25.06.2010 by Matha Eaden i just got the audio 4 dj soundcard and i have a vestax vci-100 and the traktor le that came with the soundcard. how should i connect both the audio 4 dj and the controller to the computer to make traktor le recognize both? | |
Matha Eaden 28.06.2010 | and also i wanted to know how to map traktor le myself in preferences? |
Matha Eaden 28.06.2010 | thats what i have. but im not able to preview the song in the headphones without playing it over the monitor speakers. |
Matha Eaden 28.06.2010 | arent those the options for internal? thats what i have too but it wont let me preview the song and beat match it without playing it over the monitor speakers |
Leeanna Ayla 28.06.2010 | This is my setup when I have external speakers hooked up. In Traktor preferences I set output monitor to Ch B left and right and output master to Ch A left and right with speakers plugged into the Ch A out on the sound card. |
Matha Eaden 28.06.2010 | so i finally got speakers. i have them hooked up to output B. but when i press the headphone button the song still plays through the main speakers. also, sometimes deck B cant even get played through the monitors. how to i 1. set it up so that i can play through speakers and press the headphone buttons so it only plays through the headphones but then so i can turn it off and 2. how can i change the mapping? |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | You shouldn't have to do this every time. I usually turn my VCI before I start Traktor. the sound card doesn't have a power switch so it'll be on as soon as you turn plug it in. |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | now also i have a question for the future. does everything need to be one and plugged in before i start traktor? will i have to go through this again? |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | YES! alright that makes sense/ works. thank you guys so much this thing finally works |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | YEEESSS!!, progress. In output routing select CH B left and right in output monitor. I don't believe you'll be able to play the music over the laptop speakers at the same time since you have to select the audio 4 as the audio device in the audio setup section. When you do get speakers you'll connect them to the Audio 4 and select CH A left and right in the output master section. 99% of my mixing is done with no sound outside of my headphones as no one in the house wants to hear me. |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | change my mind. the headphones work. just not the audio output of the main speakers |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | alright so midi is recognized and im able to control it. but i feel like i messed up the audio outpus because theres no sound coming out of either the soundcard headphones, or the computer speakers (i dont have speakers yet) |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | yes |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | yes the setup wizard is there. should i hvae both the audio 4 dj and vci plugged in when i run it? |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | And make sure you update the drivers for the sound card. |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | Also make sure the VCI is selected in the in/out ports after you run the setup wizard. |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | Is the setup button there? |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | alright. traktor has been updated to 1.2.6. and crossfader is back. thanks guys. but, traktor still isnt recognizing the vci. |
Leeanna Ayla 26.06.2010 | Chances are when you get updated to the 1.2.6 version of Traktor your crossfader problem will be solved, but if not do this. preferences output set mixing mode to internal What's happened is the mixing mode has been set to external, but an internal layout was selected in the layout manager. |

Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | and when i say the crossfader is gone on the internal mixer, i mean the line is still there but basically just the fader knob is gone so i cant even control it on the internal mixer |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | no the midi light next to the audio light is not lighting up. and the setup wizard button isnt there. |

Corine Kasman 26.06.2010 | The crossfader can be selected in Preferences, Layout Manager and then select Crossfader. Don't forget to get back to us, even if everything is OK. Phil. |
Matha Eaden 26.06.2010 | just as another question i havent had time to try your advice yet but when i opened up traktor le the crossfader was gone? |

This might initialize it properly. Also, plug the VCI to the computer and turn it on before starting Traktor. Are you getting the DATA light on the VCI to light every time you press a button? If not, I suggest you turn the jog sensitivity down as one might be stuck "on" (happened to me and freaked me right out!). If none of this helps, please give us your computer and OS info, as this generally heps us cut down on possible problems. Let us know how you get on. Phil. |
Matha Eaden 25.06.2010 | into its own usb port in the computer? and i did that but traktor le didnt recognize the midi controller? |
Leeanna Ayla 25.06.2010 | Install the drivers for the Audio 4, then go to the NI service center and make sure you have the latest drivers. Then select the Audio 4 as your soundcard in Traktor preferences. each one will plug into it's own USB port. |
