Misbehaving Crossfader

So currently I am using a VCI-100 SE. It was 1.4 firmware but was downgraded to 1.3. The problem I am having with the crossfader is that every time I push it all the way to the left or right, it will start "twitching" from the middle and back in the software. To illustrate

The Crossfader could be set like so (The plus sign is the actual fader knob)

|-+------|

But on the software (and in turn, the sound) it is show as being here, as well as jumping between the two:

|----+---|

I am not sure where to even begin with this problem. Could it be software? Perhaps hardware?

You need to clean it. Go ahead and do the channel faders while you're in there.
