No...fuck you man, for posting the same tired subject which was discussed over a year ago.

Please, for the sake of yourself and your children's children, believe before you believe you have something to say. This is OLD news, for everything you hold dear in your life, be it your job, your djing, the way you can cook, the way you make love to your partner...there is ALWAYS something which can do it too. And better.

Welcome to life.

I'd like to believe the majority of people can, but lets be honest... we have a billion and one talentless celebridee-jays getting gigs, and tons of large artists not even mixing and being paid top shelf wages. because there is something about the experience of seeing a dj do his/her thing live whether or not you like them or their drek. most djs have at least a small built in fan base that they can bring along which adds some business. i can't really imagine patrons commenting on how awesome ComputerProgram237888774 was at mixing tunes together last evening . unless they actually have a physical robot body. dancing ceylon djs? yes please.

plus, this can already be done with pre recorded sets on cd, a phone, or a laptop...it is already that way in bars and lounges everywhere. i see iphones running pandora through a mixer channel when places don't have any djs slotted. so anyone who doesn't care about seeing a dj probably won't care about the difference of a cd playing or software making choices while "mixing." the people who do care probably won't be attending.

Why would they ever aim this at DJs? This is a "DJ replacement".

This could also be the next phase of sync hahaha, it syncs your songs together and mixes it for you! Available in Traktor 4 or Pioneer CDJ 2500 Nexus.

Did you even watch the video on how bad the mix in was? Guetta is the only person u mentioned that is even a producer/dj? LOL

The average bad club could get away with that but until I hear a good mixin from an auto program, djs will have there spot to shine.

Honestly I could very well see a gen 2 version of this tech, coupled with the "Stream from your Smartphone!!!" tech they've recently rolled out with the latest Pioneer gear being used together as some form of DJ Replacement in bars\clubs.

Allow it to take requests from the audience, perhaps even set up some kind of voting system for what track gets played next, "BABY, pull your phone out and vote for the new Guetta\Calvin Harris\Pitbull\Rihanna Re-Mash so no more yucky "Techno" comes on!"

Of course it won't replicate what a DJ actually does, but as time moves forward I'm realizing that there's a LARGE and GROWING contingent of clubbers that don't care what a DJ does. For that matter, they're kind of miffed by what a DJ does. "Why should this one guy up there get to pick what all of us have to listen to? I just want him to play MY jams."

That attitude is really what's at the heart of all the recent "DJ-*** got kicked off the decks at VegMiamiUberClubO-Matic1749!" These places are a different kind of club which cater to a different type of clubber in a different type of world. The experience is about looking good, being seen, balling, bottle-service, clubbing to get good Facebook pictures, etc. This crowd doesn't care about being taken on a musical journey, they don't care about artistic integrity, breaking ground, etc. They want to hear big, formulaic, anthemy choons with vocals they know. They want accessible music like they hear on the radio, but bottle service too.

And trust me, THAT crowd would be more than content to have an auto-dj that's content to play whatever trite BS gets voted to the top of its list.

Thankfully there are still small sweaty rooms dropping real underground xit for real heads, and presumably will be for some time. The people that care won't be won over by gimmicks, and will continue to want the goods.

OP - to clarify my previous comment, this is aimed at the car audio market. If you can mix while you drive, more power to you. Aside from that, the material makes it look just like the auto-crossfade/cruise BS that's been in iTunes/Traktor for years, with MAYBE an echo freeze or something thrown over the top. I can just about guarantee it's going to sound JUST as mediocre as those, but with a higher price tag 'cause... Pioneer.

TL;DR - I ain't mad at it.

I agree for the most part. Some people understand it though. My friend recently had a little get together where there was turntables and a mixer. I ended up DJing for quite a while and of course a bunch of girls were like do this play this blah blah blah. So I just told a few of them to play it themselves. Needless to say, after a few minutes of attempting to 'mix,' they had a new respect for the art.

Well thanks to mainstream media it looks like being a superstar DJ is the new thing.

But I love this art and the only people who stick around will be the ones who understand how precious and rewarding this truly is when you can express you're self in such a unique way.

Wut? Mixing tracks is the most enjoyable part about Dj'ing even as a bedroom DJ. It feels so rewarding to make 2 tracks blend seamlessly together to form a complete new track.

So why the hell do I need a computer program to do it for me!!!

Mixing is what makes what I do FUN!

Novelties wear off fast and again, nothing new here...
The dj-gimmick is running for a long time now and cheap gear & gizmo's have attracted the masses.
This was not the case when you had to invest in 2 expensive SL's, a mixer, cans and loads of vinyl before you could start spinning.

Is that a bad thing ?
I don't believe so, dj-ing should be for everyone that enjoys music and wants to do creative stuff with it.
It should not matter what gear you use, what clothes you wear, how old you are or how much cash is in you bank account...

Dj's are not special / elite / better then the rest.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind having my favorite new tracks mixed for me. Having them mixed right away means I don't have to skip through the boring long intro / outro drums. Whatever; I'm certainly not going to buy one, but i'm not really upset by this whole thing. And before someone says something, I don't have time to record a mix every time I get five new tracks I really like.
