Need help with a custom mapping
Need help with a custom mapping Posted on: 15.07.2011 by Mildred Grody I want to set cue points 1-8 and high, mid and low kill switches leaving me with a shift key to set some extra functionally down the track. I want to keep the midi fighter in 4 banks mode like in the instant gratification mapping so that I have to have the deck selected from the top row in order to control it with the active deck indicated by a lit LED.As I'm completely new to mapping, I'm not sure how to get the 4 banks functionality working. I can set up the cue points but they only work for dec A. any tips on how I can get this mapping working with the 4 bank selectors? (image of proposed mapping layout attached) EDIT: I should also mention that I'm using this along side the S4 and will be adding in a xone1d for effects control once I get the hang of mapping. | |
Mildred Grody 15.07.2011 | wow. very detailed! even I should be able to follow along with this just about to head out the door, but will be trying as soon as I get back |

Mildred Grody 16.07.2011 | Just mapped it all out then following along from your instructions and it all works perfectly! Only change was the LED output for the kill switches not the hotcues. But that was easy enough to swap out thanks for taking the time to help out Audeo!!! Now I just need to work out what effects mapping I want to do with my Xone 1D I've attached the mappings if anyone wants to try it out: |
Lavenia Neild 15.07.2011 | Great job, Audeo! I believe I'll create an alternate mapping for my MFP using some of this so I can learn some more about mapping. |

Venetta Cawyer 15.07.2011 | Okay, seems like a cool mapping! It's actually pretty easy to do this but still a lot of work, I'll explain: Go to the controller manager > near Device there's a button named Add.. > Click it > Generic Midi > Import & Outport = Midifighter. In the dropdown menu that says Device target (above the Modifier States and below the Outport you just set to Midifighter) you can set to which deck you want to control. You've now set the generic midi device to only accept input from the Midifighter and only to send data (LED feedback) to the Midifighter For adding hotcues Add in > Cue/Loops > Select/Set+Store Hotcue. Press learn > press the button on the MF > Type of controller = Button Interaction Mode = Hold. Assignment = Device Target Set to value > Hotcue1 (if that's the button you pressed) Now you've got to set the Modifier Conditions for Select/Set+Store Hotcue to: Modifier = M1, Value = 0 To delete hotcues Add In > Cue/Loops > Delete Hotcue Learn > Press the same button as you did for the hotcue, Type of controller = button, interaction mode = direct. Set to value = HotCue 1. Assignment = device target Modifier conditions > Modifier = M1, value = 1 Now rinse and repeat for the other eight. Now to add the shift button Add In > Modifier > Modifier #1. Learn, press the button you want. Type of controller = button, interaction mode = hold. Set to value = 1 With this done you can now set, cue and delete hotcues on the fly! Now we go to the EQ Killswitches Add in > Mixer > EQ > EQ [frequency band] Kill Learn > Press button of choice. Type of contoller = button, interaction mode = hold (you can set this to toggle if you want) Once you've done all this for one deck, I recommend you save the whole thing by going to Edit.. (under the "generic MIDI' box > Edit Comment, give it a name, export it to a safe location). You've now made a mapping for Deck A under the first bank of the Midifighter. Congratulations! Now comes the slightly easier job. Open that mapping you just saved by going to "Add.." > Import and open that .tsi you just made. Now set the Device Target to Deck B, go to the 2nd Bank on the Midifighter, select a control, press learn, press the corresponding button, do that for all the things in the list and it *should* work. And then edit the comment again, name it to [name of mapping] deck B, open it, set device target to deck c, and do it all over again but now in the third bank of the Midifighter. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask (educated) questions! Also, I'm going to sleep now, all of a sudden it's 4:52AM here! Edit: I totally forgot LED feedback for the Hotcues! This is a harder job since there is no "learn" function for this (DAMN YOU NI!).. Add Out > Cue/Loops > Hotcue x State. Next to the learn there's a dropdown menu. But first you gotta check to which note you have to send the signal. Go back to the hotcue control, check which channel and note it is. (i.e. Ch03.Note.E2) and that's the address you've gotta look up in the said dropdown menu. Oh and I just added pictures |
devozz baby 15.07.2011 | u can use any of the top deck select buttons as shift if u want to, but if u want to get this workin with decks, id take the instagrat mapping and remove all the midicommands under the 4 banks and map out the above, should be easy, and if u cant get it to work i can do it |
