I wouldn't mind playing some bigger gigs. I'll put that as a goal, but I don't really expect it THIS year. But next year, thats a different story.

Master the F1 to its full capabilities, and release a track of my own. Carry on as I was doing in 2012 gigging regularly and smashing the ass out of every dancefloor!

Finish my EP...still writing and filtering out tracks (really trying to get a cohesive sound

Start DJ'ing more, get sharp on Traktor...maybe some shows

Run more frequently (drop some pounds)

Maybe, quit smoking...not sure if I'm ready for that yet

4.0 GPA in school this semester

2013 get more gigs and release more mixes.

A big on is to get my sound gear business off the ground. I am partnering with my father and we already have a bunch of bands we do sound for but I want to branch out further into video set ups and into some pa rentals.

I know this thread was from last year, but in order to keep myself accountable to this, I'll post my goals for 2013 anyway:

- To Produce a track that I can truly consider "art"
- To get a day job that I actually enjoy going to on some level
- To be asked, instead of asking, to dj at a club

Less Drugs

More Yoga

Higher Profile, marketing myself, etc

make inroads to having my own shop (cloths) I want it to be synonymous with my profile as a dj and the music I love. I say inroads as I plan to do this once i am better known, but when the time comes i want to go all out.

Make more edits whilst getting familiar with machine and ableton, ( just purchased Ableton suit)

But really just a big push, 100% at the dream, no more half measures and cut the disbelievers and naysayers from my circle

Better attitude towards my awsome day job that affords me the freedom to by gear and spend so much time djing.

key words for the year: Initiative, resourcefulness, integrity and humbleness.

I believe zhu has the right idea with his 52 to zhu challenge. By consistently putting out material your constantly figuring out what works and doesn't work. I believe whatever goals you make this year find something that you can habitually do to work towards them. That's the way you'll get results

@dope, it is possible to create a track within a year of starting. It really seems to depend on how good you are at writing more than anything else, plus having some degree of a budget and being able to learn the tools or make friends with somebody who either has or can.

I like that category style post Mostapha, i'm stealing your idea.

<life>
1 - Stay alive
2 - Enjoy life (alcohol, friends, bass, alcohol, sex and so on)
3 - Figure out what's going on with my "gf" (haven't seen her for like,what, 2 months ?) wtf

If step 3 fails, then :
- Get bitches (which leads to step 2)
</life>

<school>
Manage to do well at the "contest" I have to enter one of the country's best business school.
</school>

<DJing>
- Get a real mixer (A&H DB2 or maybe some Pioneer stuff since it's the standard)
- Get CDJs (probably 850k)
- Be able to pull a 2h+ super clinical banging mix with 3 decks involved most of the time.
</DJing>

<Production>
- Learn
- Find VST i like
- Learn
- Create some tracks (that will sound like shit but help me to get better).
- Create one some serious good sounding track (can this be achieved in 1year, since i'm a real beginner in production ?)

  • smoke trees.

<life>
  • Spend more quality time with my girlfriend.
  • Spend more quality time with my close friends.
  • Get a job that actually pays again (or start getting paid for my internship)
  • Quit smoking cigarettes habitually.
  • Start doing Krav Maga again.
  • Set foot on GT's campus as little as possible.
  • Take a motorcycle training course.
  • Start saving up for a motorcycle (Monster or Thruxton would be top choices if I feel the least bit confident in my riding)
</life>

<computers>
  • Sell my MBP
    • Buy an 11" MBA
      • Replace it's storage with a bigger card from OWC
    • Buy an iMac
      • Replace it's boot drive with an SSD from OWC
    • Note: this won't happen until Thunderbolt hard drive chasses or Thunderbolt to FW800 interfaces come out.

</computers>

<school>

  • Figure out why I'm still in school.
</school>

<DJing>
  • Be a gear whore.
    • Sell all of my existing DJ gear.
    • Buy a DVS setup (still debating TSP vs SSL essentially as MIDI clock vs. ATC + vinyl scroll, but I'm 90% sure vinyl scroll is going to win)
      • 3 1210s
      • Empath or an older Vestax
      • SL3 or Audio 6
    • Buy IEMs
  • Spin on USB sticks or CDs out, because fuck it.
  • Get back into clubs, but ones I actually like.
  • Figure out a hardware sample-based groove box that I can beat-match to decks and buy one.
  • Integrate Psy/Nu-Skool Breaks, Dubstep, and Hip Hop in a way that makes sense and shows off the music instead of the DJ.
</DJing>

<Guitar>

My goals are:

1. Get away from my crappy mop jockey job at the truck stop and find a job working on aircraft like I went to school for. Or some other non minimum wage paying job that doesn't involve scrubbing shit off of bathroom walls.

2. Move out of my dad's basement.

3. Replace my laptop with one that doesn't have a broken display.

4. Get a dvs soundcard/mixer so I can play more than 60's and 70's music on my technics.

5. Build those Billfitzmaurice speakers that I've been meaning to get around to doing so I can play out some house parties/local bars. Maybe even volunteer to do a few benefits to help out the less fortunate.

6. Get an internet connection faster than 40kbps.

7. Get a gig at a club playing my music.

I am going the less selfish route this year so my number 1 priority is....

- To look after and love my Wife, and do a bit more around the house to help her relax more.

Ironically I am finding by doing so I in turn get more time to mix toons. Go figure.

- Stay in touch with my family back in N.Z more often than I have in the past.

- Play a round of golf with my grandfather at least once a month.

- Enjoy quality time with close friends

To summarise I am looking to nurture my close relationships. as that is what I feel is most important in life.

Outside of that to get back into Kick Boxing (Muay Thai) so I can up my energy levels and health for all off the above.
