Mapping the Hercules RMX

I have also embarked on the mapping journey, an interesting one there seems to be no end in sight. I'm stuck on a few points in Traktor Pro, please share your thoughts on this lay-out:

I'm still not sure about the following:
- How to modify this? How can I modify a certain button?
- What does beatlock do?
- How do I put these cue-points on?
- Is there a possibility to press a button on which a drop-down menu for the effects appears so that a certain effect can be chosen for a certain fx unit?

Thanks for your reply, most of this is clear to me. The only thing that I'm curious about is what adjustments you'd make to this mapping so that it doesn't look like a VDJ mapping anymore? I am indeed a switcher from VDJ to Traktor, already love Traktor but maybe I indeed want to stick to the familiar feeling of VDJ a bit too much; any thoughts? Or is your mapping a perfect example of what Traktor can and VDJ can't do?

Mr G,

You should also get and read the Traktor bible:
http://www.traktorbible.com/en/traktorbible.aspx
there's a page on this site that has a list of all traktor's commands which makes mapping easier.

there are a few other mappings for the RMX on this site. there's;

there's mine

But looking at you picture it looks like you want one that basically has vdj settings but works w/ Traktor. I'm not sure if that would be the best way to go? since you can get a lot more out of traktor.

As for your other questions:
* You can modify all buttons or knobs, faders, job wheels etc. (on the RMX only the mic vol & the headphone vol are non-mappable.
* if you are referring to sync/beat-lock it syncs the target song to the master clock.
* to add cue points you'd have to map a button to that particular cue point
* there's no command to get the drop down to pop up but you can set a knob to cycle through effects or if you have effects that you use all the time you can set them to all load when you hit a button.

Otherwise go through the community and the website there's tons of information there.

good luck
