VCI-100se Help!

VCI-100se Help!
Posted on: 03.04.2010 by Edmund Abbink
Hey I just got the VCI-100se and traktor scratch pro on Friday and haven't been able to get it to work yet! I am using a macbook.

So I have Traktor installed and everything set up, but I can't get a mapping for the controller to work. I have tried to download and import all 3 of the available mappings offered on djranking s.com (3.5, 3.5 [glitch fix], 2.5, 2.4) and when I load the .tsi file the pop-up box asking you which settings you would like to import never allows me to import the midi mappings. The box next to the midi mapping is never available for me to click ( [X] ) .

I can only import GUI Layout, Effects Setting, All Other Preferences and Settings.

I appreciate ANY help whatsoever. Thank you!

If it is not red the version should be 1.2.5 If it is not, you should have a red star above the "Upgrade" tab, and need to install the latest update.
Did you check this? If Service Center does not know where your Traktor is on your HD, it will not update.

Couple of things to look at on your computer:
1. Open Service Center (NI utility in the NI folder in Applications). Click on the last tab marked "Overview". Scroll down to Traktor Pro and click on "Show Details". If Versions is in red, you need to tell Service Center where you have Traktor on your hard drive (it does not know). If it is not red the version should be 1.2.5 If it is not, you should have a red star above the "Upgrade" tab, and need to install the latest update.

2. If you have 1.2.5 installed, make sure that that is what you are starting. When you install an upgrade, it is not automatically mapped to you Dock. You will have to get rid of the old shortcut and put the new one in your dock. Now when you start Traktor, click on the NI logo, it should say you have version 1.2.5.

Things in Traktor:
1. Install the TSI with the BIG import button on the bottom of the Preferences window.

2. When you install a TSI (I know you can't at the moment, but the above should fix that), in the devices menu of the "Controller Mapping" tab you need to click you VCI. Now set the Port-In and Port-Out to the VCI (I believe it is called Vestax PC Controller).

Let us know if you get everything working.

okay I got it to download, had to mess around with the location and whatnot. But after the new one is installed and my computer is restarted, the Traktor application is still the old version. How do I update Traktor to use the new version that I just installed? I'm assuming that this fix will then allow me to properly use the midi.

I have to update the newest version, but the download button will not let me click it. I have an Check Mark in the box next to the newest version 1.2.5, but the download button in the bottom right corner is not lit up for me to proceed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Happy Easter

First thing to do after a fresh install is use whatever tsi file was supplied with that install of the software. That way you know at least if its working or not, or if its something more fundamental needs looking at. Once you've got that far, look at downloading new mapping files. Otherwise you may be going around in a big circle to fault find.

try updating your traktor software via the service center.
might help, as the tsi files aren't always downwards-compatible
