[In Progress] Mapping V3_5 (Search function tweak) Posted on: 14.04.2010 by Joni Stos Hey everyone!I have used most populair midi controllers out on the market, but yesterday I got my own VCI-100SE with the custom V3.5 mapping by Ean. A great (but slightly complex) mapping for the more serious digital DJ. However I miss some key features in the mapping that I really liked on other controllers (The Reloop DJ2 for example). I started this threat to share my thoughts with others and I need some help tweaking the mapping file. Lets get started: The most important feature is the "Search in Track Timeline" feature. The Reloop DJ2 had a very nice mapping for this, which would be a great addition to our VCI-100's. Search in Track Timeline First thing I noticed is that you can not use your jogwheels to scroll within the track timeline. You can only "scratch" to a certain time in the track, very time consumping and horrible for your ears. The Reloop DJ2 uses 2 buttons for this. Track is not playing: 1.Toggle the "Search" button to scroll through the track's timeline with the jogwheel. The button will light up when toggled. 2.Toggle the "Scratch" botton to scroll fast inside the track. (like you can do now!) The button will light up when toggled. 3. Toggle both "Search and Scratch" to very precisely scroll inside the track, to a certain beat or sound. Both buttons light up when toggled. Track is playing: 1. Toggle the "Search". Touching the jogwheel will stop the track and you can scroll the tracks timeline. Releasing the jogwheel and the track will continue to play from the new point on the timeline. The button will light up when toggled. 2. Toggle the "Scratch". Touching the jogwheel wheel will enter scratchmode like vinyl. Release the jogwheel and the track will continue to play. 3. Toggle both "Scratch and Search" to pitchbend the playing track with the jogwheel. An Advantage is that when the track is playing and none of the buttons are toggled you can touch the jogwheels, but nothing will happen. This is very safe when performing life. One might accidently bump the jogwheels and screw up his set, but without any of these buttons toggled this can not happen. Mapping the Search button For this configuration to work we need to map a button as the "Search" button. I personally don't use Deck C and D and would like to map these buttons Search A and Search B. This is how I would personally want to see the mapping. This is the community of the MIDI guru's. So there must be some genius that can make this mapping for me and the rest of the world. It would be much, much appreciated. Boris | |
