Mapping Beat Machines in Itch for Effects?
Mapping Beat Machines in Itch for Effects? Posted on: 13.05.2010 by Elli Collymore So i may be over believeing this process but hear me out ITCH users... Ive been battling with money right now and was believeing if there was a way around enabling the effects in ITCH. I have an MPD 32 from AKAI Pro and would like to use it as my effects controller in ITCH. I know this maybe something that people have already thought about and the idea of using the beat machines' pads to control the Hot Cue points... this could become very handy considering my NS7 Hot Cue points are becoming warn out from me pushing them frequently. I dont see the point in buying (NSFX controller), if i could just use my MPD 32 to control the New Itch with effects... (I use the Mpd for Studio Only right now) Currently running the latest version of ITCH without the effects... probably version 1.5... (trying to find download for effects version) MAIN OBJECTIVE: Control the serato itch software with a 3rd party MIDI device for EFFECTS. Can this be done??? thanks dj bigdad | |

Rebbecca Fennell 14.05.2010 | awesome man, that was my main complaint about my ns7 was the cue points didnt feel that good for rapid triggering. ive got an old mpd16 that may be getting a new use now... |
Reece Murray 14.05.2010 | That's great man! Good use of Bome's. Now figure out how to trick Itch into believeing you have approved hardware attached, and we're in business! (Like how we can trick Ableton Live into believeing certain hardware is attached via special scripts). I have no idea what Serato uses as communication between hardware and software though, so... |
Elli Collymore 14.05.2010 | i tried the Bome midi translator and it seemed to work... i mapped the top buttons under the faders to have the Roll effect and then used the beat machines pads to trigger the hot cue points... this in turn has saved me from doing more damage to my hot cue points on the NS7... People must understand i brought this point up because wanted to show people you can get around it with a translator... although u cant used the effects u can still mod ur self a good way to jump around on a track... not to mention this will save u money in beating up on your hot cue points... oh i also mapped a double track button on my midi (MPD32) so that i can do special breaks and move tracks from right to left with out the crowd knowing... this is useful if your a right handed scratchier... also as you set up ur midi controller u can chose different presets for different occasions. SO PILMAT the keystrokes arent fixed, u can change the preset to have the midi mapping to keystrokes change. I in awe that this is something no one has tried... oh yes point three... apparently u can rewire Itch to tracktor pro... what if one was to do this then map the beat machine for the effects... just more ideas.. let me know what everyone believe... |

Corine Kasman 13.05.2010 | Ha, every time I believe about giving Itch a try, something like this comes up and just puts me off. So you can't even move controls around? Some controllerist software that is Phil. |
Reece Murray 13.05.2010 | Serato really is in the business of selling hardware over software. In keeping with their philosophy, connecting a piece of approved hardware is what "unlocks" feature sets. Ex. VFX-1 is what actually gives you access to fx in Itch, the software has not changed. As mentioned, Itch does not have midi mapping capability. (Which seems really weird to me as it's supposed to be the "Controllerist's Serato") So, no, if you want to map a drum machine/mpc, you're gonna have to get some different software. |
Elli Collymore 13.05.2010 | ok so i came across the idea that you can map a beat machine to a software like Bome's MIDI Translator and have it represent keystrokes... this could lead to a hack around/ roll effect on the midi controller... also if there is a way to get the latest version of serato itch with the effects then map the effects parameters to the midi translator software it could work... im tried of people saying it cant be done and wanta try it myself... if you have any ideas for a midi translator software let me know.. thanks |
Rebbecca Fennell 13.05.2010 | everyone wants do this, but realistically, its not going to happen. there is simply no midi mapping function at all in itch. |
