Sweep/Drama Build-ups in Traktor

Hello all. I was trying to do this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMbsAIBs3uE

The three effects are: Iceverb, Peak Filter, Reverb

I was able to get it work with any knob I wanted, but I was trying to have it replace the Slice button on the VCI-100se mapping.

I would want it so when I click/hold slice it would activate fx unit 3 (as it does now), but instead of the slice function when the jog wheel is turned it would begin to activate my 3 preset chained-effects and have their individual dry wets go up at the same time. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Here it is all done, fixed the Feedback button issue. This TSI is the default DJTT 3.0 with the slice button replaced as a sweeping effect using the jogwheel. I did not add a fade out button for the sweep effect because we have an echo right next to it. Let me know how everybody likes it instead of slice! Thanks to armyofme for the tutorial and others for the mapping help!

Are you targetting the right effects bank?
It should (I'm guess I don't have a VCI-100 and only ever skim reader the mapping)
On the slice button:
Effect Button 2 > direct 0 with the target Effect bank 4 (I'm pretty user Ean uses effect bank 3 for slice and 4 for echo)

Thanks for the response but I am having problems finding this. Is this an add in for Effect Parameter 2 under advanced or something different? Right now I already have the one that changed the value to 0.600. Sorry the the easy question kinda new at all this mapping.

This would be correct. Nice to know ppl dig the combo. I have it setup on my eq knobs because at the mid point you can launch another midi message which is what I use to echo out, so it's one solid sweep of the knob. Although I do wish it would work at the end of the knob and not the mid point. Maybe I'll research the effect knobs some more.

it's supposed to be effect button 1. that's the button that makes it echo out. not effect button 2.

Thanks for all the help I was able to get it working perfectly with a few exceptions!

I decided just to have no echo out button because there is already the echo effect button right next to the slice button that I like. I was able to get everything mapped to the jog wheel correctly but have one problem. If I use the echo button it leaves the feedback box checked so when I go to use the slice (now the sweeping effect) the feedback is still on. What do I need to add so that when I press the slice button the feedback is turned off (if it is on)?

well, the djtt standard mapping, has a thing built in so that if you are using Delay in adv mode, and using the fx sectoin of the VCI (the 4 knobs) it freezes out when you reach 100%wet.

I dont believe that this mapping solution can be applied to endless encoders, because its just so hard to know when you are actually at the *end* of an endless encoder. Knobs are easy, cause all the way right is 127, and all the way left is 0 (or something like haha). I feel like, with the jogs, it would be very hard to reliably freeze out.

more thoughts: You could map the freeze out, to jog release. Turning right would increase the parameters, and as long as you are holding down the slicer button (which we have altered) the freeze will hold till it decays. Or you can have the slicer button be a toggle, so you dont have to keep your hand on it.

just believeing out loud. I really liked this fx combo when I first saw the tutorials, and now I'm finally doing some believeing about applying it to my setup.

Hey what's up.

That is actually my tutorial. So let me get this straight, you want to to have the button turn on the effects, while you hold the button and turn the jog you want it to turn up the effects?

If so you just need to add a modifier to the jog, which it already has due to it being the slicer. You would need to give up the slicer in order to do this. next just give the effects that modifier and make sure you add that modifier to the basic jog function while the slicer button isn't pressed and then you should be good.

The next thing to worry about is, getting it to echo out. You need a button for that, or you can figure out a way to have your command say once all my effects reach 100 turn on delay button 1. Good luck with that though, seems crazy.

Best of luck.

i guess he wants the slicer button as a modifier, then jog to turn it on and up!

alright, first step would be to make sure you have a pristine mapping of your current setup. Now we can start doing stuff.

do you want the button to turn the fx on, or the touching of the jog to turn it on?
