Need help with Deck Focus Select in Traktor Scratch Pro

Hi All,

I've been searching the net, but can't find a simple example how to use Deck Focus Select.

I have a VMS4 and want to make my own mapping to control traktor with 4 decks.

I want to use the cue (pfl) buttons to select which deck I want to use, so when I press the cue button of channel 3 all controlls on the left/right side, except EQ,GAIN and Volume are assigned to deck C.

I've tried with modifiers but can't figure this out.
For instance:
I made modifiers M1,2,3,4 and gave them values 1,2,3,4 and assigned them to the cue 4 buttons.
I placed the modifiers on for instance the play button.
m=1 deck A has play function
m=3 deck C has play function

But I get in trouble when I want Traktor to know which deck to place on which side.
For instance I want to control deck B and C, how am I letting Traktor know to have deck C controlled on the right side of the VMS4, and deck B on the left side.
Seems I doing a lot of work, and there must be a simpler way.

Now I heard Deck focus is the way to go.

How am I gong to use this, as I can only set this to global instead of Deck A/B/C/D.

If someone can give me a simple explanation to have this done with for instance the 4 cue buttons.

Tnx in advance!

In your case, no don't use deck focus it's not the best solution if we're talking about having two decks per side. As a simple example, you can use deck focus for some other controls where you'll have one button for all decks, but not for that.

Just create two modifiers each one with two values 0 & 1 (example modif 1 =0 for deck A & 1 for deck C) that's all you need. Then on each function you'll create, you'll add the modifier condition that relates to the two pairs of decks.

But that's assuming the vsm4 only work on only one midi channel for all decks???
That sucks a LOT if that's the case. What a bad idea.....
