Vestax Typhoon HELP?
Posted on: 06.07.2010 by Marjorie Zorio
Does anybody have a Vestax Typhoon mapper or the means to use the Typhoon for any DJ software? I've already tried the Spin mapper for Traktor LE and I've tried almost all the DJ software and it doesn't work with anything. e.g. Serato LIVE, ITCH, Virtual DJ, Traktor LE. I'm so confused can anybody help me?

A bit late to this thread but I have to say that Im still interested in the original question to this post. I have recently purchased the Vextax typhoon. I love the unit, and so far all of the functions appear to be working fine in Traktor LE, and in my upgraded Traktor Pro. Although I would like to know if anyone has been able to get this unit mapped using Serato. Or can anyone provide any tips on how this might be accomplished.

thanks in advance for any help.

No luck, i ended switching my Typhoon for a Hercules DJ console Rmx. Its probably one of the best controls out there that isn't Numark. I the NS7 in my opinion is probably the best controller out there though. Thanks for the help guys. :]

Sorry, bro, can't help you as I know nothing about Virtual DJ. But I just ran a Google search "vestax typhoon virtual dj" and it came up with a lot of discussion on the VDJ community . It would be very cool if you could let us know what you fin out though.

Well I switched off to Traktor Scratch PRO and on another computer running windows vista. So it works now. But now my question is how can i get it to run on virtual DJ?

In Traktor, click the NI logo or the Traktor symbol. What version is written there? If you have 1.2.6 this could be your problem. See the link below:

If you have 1.2.6, I suggest you re-install Traktor from the LE CD. It should be an older version that there is no problem with.

Let us know if this helps.

I am on internal mixing but i can only mix within the Traktor software. My Typhoon remains to be a vegetable. I am only able to hear through my speakers and my headphones.

I'm a PC running windows XP SP2 and my problem with Tracktor is I have set it up with the setup wizard and once I go to the controller manager I selected Typhoon Pro Generic MIDI (All Ports, All Ports) and for both In-port and Out-port it gives me two opions. None and all ports. I chose all ports. I did load the ASIO4TYPHOON and i still recieve no response what so ever. I basically have no control of traktor and can't mix any music. I can hear with the headphone input and the Outputs but there is no mixing reaction with the slider, controls, buttons etc. I basically have headphones and speakers but no mixing :/

Hi and welcome to the community .

First, relax. I can feel the total panic in your thread.

Tell us a little about your system (PC/Mac, OS, etc) and then what problem you are having with LE. I ran Spin this morning in Traktor Pro with no problem.

There is a known issue with LE at version 1.2.6. What version do you have?

Are you trying to load a TSI (mapping file)? In Traktor LE I don't believe you can load a file. You must run Setup Wizard (BIG button on the bottom left of the Preferences window). Then you must click Controller Manager from the left column of Preferences, then in the Devices list, choose the Typhoon. Now you will see an In and OUT PORT, select the Typhoon from the list for BOTH. This is a critical stage and is in the manual.
Now check your audio setting in Preferences and make sure they are per the manual (you will have to load the audio driver called ASIO4TYPHOON if you are on a PC).

Let us know if this gets you started and if you need any more help (thats what we're here for).

Phil.
