Traktor Pro S4 receiving wrong midi notes
Traktor Pro S4 receiving wrong midi notes Posted on: 27.02.2011 by Ngan Batstone Mac OSX 10.6.6, Traktor Pro S4When I try to map any midi device (Traktor S4 in midi mode, Maschine in midi mode, my midi keyboard, etc), MIDI monitor/Logic show that the computer is receiving a midi note one octave lower than what Traktor receives. So for example, if I map a button on my Maschine to send C2, MIDI monitor and things like Logic will receive C2 properly, but when I monitor the input with the "learn" function in Traktor, it always receives one octave higher at C3. I've tested it with all my midi devices, and various software, and the Traktor software seems to be the only one doing it... it's driving me crazy. Any ideas? Help greatly appreciated. | |

Ngan Batstone 16.03.2011 | Thought I'd update you all in case any one else is curious / having the same problem. I finally got a response from NI after clarifying that no, this was not an issue with me not understanding how to use the Controller editor. Here's the response below:
This issue seems to be caused by a bug in the current version of the application.
Thanks for your report. We have referred this issue to our developers and will try to fix it in a future version, but we cannot recommend a workaround at this time.
Hi there,
The problem isn't finding the cc assignments for the buttons and pads. The issue is that in the Controller Editor, I have mapped a button to note C2. When I press that button and use the "learn" function in Traktor - it reports that button as C3, not C2 as it should be. When I press that button and monitor the output using Midi Monitor, or Logic, or any other software, it reports it as C2 as it should be. Traktor S4 is receiving all midi notes one octave higher than it should. |
Ngan Batstone 28.02.2011 | Did you ever get your x1 working properly? I have a temporary workaround with midipipe that automatically transposes the octave down 1 for any input from my Maschine, but that's really non-ideal since it introduces an additional dependency in my setup. I'm glad to at least hear other people have experienced the same problem - there seems to be little to no information online about the bug. I filed a report with NI, but we'll see if they respond. |
Tatum Ansaldo 28.02.2011 | I had this issue when mapping my X1 in midi mode to the MF deckalized mapping. Very odd. Midi Monitor doesn't lie, so I wonder what's going on in Traktor! |
Yuonne Ingamells 28.02.2011 | can't you manually punch in the midi commands? |
Kecia Wnukowski 27.02.2011 | Same here, I'd like to understand too. |
