Using X1 as a midi fighter / mapping?
Using X1 as a midi fighter / mapping? Posted on: 07.04.2011 by Rich Seery Hey guys,I know this might sound strange but hear me out: Before I got my MC6000 I was using a Kontrol X1, a Audio 4 and a Mixer. Pretty easy setup and all. Now I have the MC6000 and take care of everything in Traktor Pro (not 2) with this controller. But I'd like to use the X1 to mimic the Midi Fighter to use some of the mappings I've seen in Ean's videos. After all the X1 has 4x4 buttons at the bottom and such. Is it even possible to make the X1 believe it's a Midi Fighter? If so, has anyone done this? And before you ask "why not buy a MF?" I gotta say: I have the X1 and it should work from the layout plus I have nearly no money Thanks for your tips, P. | |

Rich Seery 08.04.2011 | Thanks, glad some people have got it working. Will check it on the weekend. Would be great to have the IG mapping added to the MC6000's normal mixing and effects... |
Anastacia Kijewski 07.04.2011 | have been using this map for sometime (IG), it's absolutly amazing! |
Emmy Jacobitz 07.04.2011 | your better going with the ig mapping then to use the deckalized mapping. in the deckalized you would need 2 x1s. in this post you retain the x1s original functions and then the midi fighter instant grat mapping in midi mode for 2 decks.and the instant grat is a great mapping addition to any setup especialy when you can do it with a control you already own. heres the link to the post http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=26921 |

/showthread.php?t=26921 works as a 2 channel IG mapping, I believe you can load any MF mapping with the presets from the thread. for 4 channel IG you'd have to do some magic i guess or change the way the mapping works, I posted a possible way to easily change it to a 4 channel mapping but no idea if it would work (dont see why not though) |
Rich Seery 07.04.2011 | Ah, okay. I'm keeping to your thread now (the one you posted). Hope that the LED thing gets solved as well. Thanks again. |
Tatum Ansaldo 07.04.2011 | The IG mapping uses a firmware feature of the MF called 4 banks mode, whereby the 4 top buttons switch between 4 banks of 12 buttons below. so you effectively have 36 buttons, with shifts on top if you wish. This actually changes the midi notes that the MF is putting out, so you can't map it to something that doesn't have multiple pages (like the midifighter). I suppose you might be able to do something with shift, but the IG uses more modifiers than you would believe. |

/showthread.php?t=23474 there you go. Only thing is, this will only work with the Deckalized mappings, not the instant gratification. |
Tatum Ansaldo 07.04.2011 | Yep it's pretty easy actually, if you go into controller editor you can edit the midi notes of the buttons in midi mode, then just import the MF mapping and assign it to the X1 in/out ports and you're ready to go! There were a couple of problems when I did it though, like the X1 outputting a midi note one octave higher than I'd told it to. I'll see if I can dig out the thread and post it here. |
