DMC6000 and 1 x DN-S3700 setup question
Posted on: 08.04.2011 by Linnea Rudish
Hi,

Im selling some old Dj gear and upgrading - I am believeing if buying a Denon DMC6000 and one DN-S3700 (or Dn-S1200 if i dont get a bargain) in the next week.

My objective is to use 3 decks in Traktor Pro 2 on the 6000 and switch between CD and midi control on the 4th Mixer channel (using the 3700).

That way I have all my Cd's as a choice (with plattter control) but also as a backup if the laptop fails during a gig......
I also then get to use the midi capabilities of the cd deck.

My question is - can you set up Traktor Pro 2 to take midi inputs for 3 decks on the 6000 but have the 4th taking midi from a second USB device (the 3700) AT THE SAME TIME?

Two USB's into the laptop i guess...?

Am I right in saying if using midi on the 3700 (once mapped in Traktor Pro 2) the platter wouldnt be usable? (I can live with that limitation as Im not really a scratch DJ)...

Am I also right in saying there would be no need to get Traktor Scratch 2/timecode/additional soundcard with this set up?

cheers

I guess the shorter question would have been can you get Traktor Pro 2 to accept two separate midi input signals at once via USB....
of course!

Step by step...
yes you can use both of them, the way you like it.
The plater on 3700 will work in midi mode.
No additional gear needed.
Its not the same, but my set up should give you some answers. Audio 2 dj from laptop to 2 channels of mixer, akai lpd8, denon dn s1200 in midi and connected to third channel of mixer for backup, just as you intended to use it.
