Loop Mapping / APC40 / LED Help?
Loop Mapping / APC40 / LED Help? Posted on: 13.04.2011 by Eddie Maina Hi Everyone,So I started playing around with mapping my apc40 for traktor but i continue to run into a wall with a few items, for now i'll ask about the one main issue... How do I map auto-loop points to buttons and have the led behave as follow: off=green activated=blinking green in sync (or at least blinking green) I have searched the community s, the web and anywhere else i could and i have not found a solution - except one, which was a bit overly complicated for what I want to accomplish. So, maybe someone out there has an idea? Thanks in advance! | |

Sammie Filetti 06.05.2011 | Here ya go... What do you believe? |
Sammie Filetti 06.05.2011 | Okay, see it sometimes work when I press the button SUPER fast. I read somewhere that the APC sends an off message when the button is released, so I need to work around that maybe? I'll owe you a beer after this |

Sammie Filetti 06.05.2011 | Baaah, this is embarassing, still not working. You are referring to add out>global>send monitor state, right? Any controller/midi range stuff for that? So weird, it should work by now... |

Starting simple =) I've mapped the button itself no prob, and set up an out to the same note value, midi range min=0 max=4. But the button only lights up when pressed, how do I make it toggle? Also not sure if I should map that to "loop active" or "loop set". Thanks for your help, really appreciate it! |

Sammie Filetti 06.05.2011 | Hey, I'm trying to figure out this LED stuff myself, with my own APC... Any chance on a simple guide to the mapping? I've mapped plenty stuff before but I'm clueless with the LEDs. |

Christia Saltmarsh 20.04.2011 | I'm sharing your pain right now! I'm new to Traktor (just acquired Traktor Scratch Pro 2) and am finding the mappings painful with my APC40. I had no problems assigning hot cues for Deck A & Deck B so that I get solid green if no cue is assigned and solid red when cue is assigned, but trying to do similar with other actions such as having "beat jump" on deck A set to orange default is near impossible. I actually put in the correct values and it's been turning red! Very frustrating. I believe my biggest frustration is that I can't see the logic in why in some cases I can assign (for example) -1 and -1 as the midi range but in other cases it will force me to be in positive values only (I have -1 / -1 for the controller range with the hot cue state actions). I feel your pain on this one, I'll let you know if I have any success this weekend, will likely be starting from scratch again to see if I can nail this down. |

Jacquelyne Amponsah 15.04.2011 | I assume it should apply to both. Open Ableton, wait for red rectangle around clips, close Ableton, open Traktor, then try your LED mappings. |
Eddie Maina 15.04.2011 | hmmm... possibly not... i am on a mac though - i thought that was a windows thing? |
Jacquelyne Amponsah 15.04.2011 | You got the APC40 in 'dumb' mode? |
Eddie Maina 14.04.2011 | apc40 grid specifically... Deck A row 3, column 1 = loop decrease row 3, column 2 = loop increase row 3, column 3 = loop size 1 row 3, column 4 = loop size 2 row 4, column 1 = loop size 4 row 4, column 2 = loop size 8 row 4, column 3 = loop size 16 row 4, column 4 = loop size 32 i am trying to map it so that when the loop is not active the led is solid green. when the loop is active the led is blinking green. the loop decrease/increase would be solid orange. i will then repeat this for Deck B. |
Nisha Latkowski 14.04.2011 | which buttons are you trying map? |
Eddie Maina 14.04.2011 | bump. it's now day 3 as i attempt to map these damn loop buttons. if there is a mapping god out there - please make it rain! |
Eddie Maina 14.04.2011 | haha... that's 0-7 as i previously mentioned anyone have any ideas? i tried all kinds of different OUTs within the loops drop down and i can only get one state to operate at a time - either it's blinking when on or blinking when off. There is no solid green on off and blinking on active. Surely there must be a solution, no? |
Jacquelyne Amponsah 14.04.2011 | Exactly. |
Eddie Maina 14.04.2011 | according to the manual... 0=off, 1=green, 2=green blink, 3=red, 4=red blink, 5=yellow, 6=yellow blink, 7-127=green |
Jacquelyne Amponsah 14.04.2011 | Not for me at least. When in doubt, RTFM http://www.akaipro.com/extras/produc...ocol_rev_1.pdf |
Jacquelyne Amponsah 14.04.2011 | Nah brah. |

You want to Add In... and select the function you have it assigned to, then look at the corresponding Out to see what the note is, for example Ch06.Note.A3 would correspond to the button fifth column, fifth row. For solid green and flashing green, you would want to put 2 for the Min MIDI range, and 127 for the Max MIDI range. Hope this helps, rather than confusing you more. |
Eddie Maina 13.04.2011 | i have to admit, this is a bit ridiculous. i have all kinds of stuff mapped and i can't get the right feedback... so nuts. must take a break. |
