Maschine MIDI Fighter issues

Hello. I have the first version of TSP2 and I also have a Maschine that has been collecting dust so I have been trying to find the correct mapping to add to my live setup. There is not much troubleshooting tips on the web, other than I went to this link (http://www.djranking s.com/community /sho...e+midi+fighter) to find the maschine midi fighter instant gratification mapping. I have downloaded the .ncm file as well as uploading the .tsi to Traktor, but still, nothing. Can anyone help me? Would really appreciate it, all the people I talk about it have no clue what i'm talking about.

Yes, the NCM (Native Instruments Controller Editor Maschine file) needs to be appended to your controller presets using the Controller Editor software. There is another type of file, which I believe is the NCC which is a Configuration file, you will not want to use one of those, if you have one, because that will wipe all your presets that are currently on your Maschine and replace them with what is in the NCC file. Having had this happen to me before, it sucks.

true - pictures are always useful. should really be a big sticky somewhere with photos explaning the "big import" button verses the small one and about assigning correct midi ports to controllers really. people do often seem to come unstuck there (and hence a sticky being useful )

You have to set the IN/OUT port settings in Traktor to the Maschine Controller. By default they will look for an attached MIDI Fighter.

There are 4 to set (Deck A, B, C, D) in Traktor's mappping preferences. Each of those needs to be set to the Maschine MIDI In/Out (so you get LED feedback). The top 4 buttons do work as a FX lock, in that you can hold down a series of pads, and if you like that effect's sound, you can tap the pad that corresponds to that deck A B C or D (left to right) to kept that effect setting locked in place, freeing up your hands, however, it will unlock when you switch decks via the ABCD bank buttons. This is great to do if you then want to mess around with the settings of each effect with the knobs on your S-4, or other controller, I am working on a version of the NCM file for this which would have a 2nd TSI file with controls for all four FX parameters mapped to the knobs on the Maschine, but haven't had the time yet.

The Instant Gratification mapping is DJTechTools' material, so I am not going to make any alterations to that mapping, I simply wanted to add the option for people who have Maschine, but didn't know how to set it to correspond to the same output that the MIDI fighter sends (there are still some things the MIDI fighter can do that I can't totally figure out how to map on Maschine, but c'est la vie).

Next time I update the NCM file, I will include a read me and some screen shots.

that's using the maschines own internal banks via the a/b/c/d buttons instead of the top row that the mf uses.

you should be able to load the his maschine config to configure the actual midi sent out of your maschine to match the midifighter, load the mf tsi in traktor (via the big import button - to make sure effects are in the correct order) and then set the input/output ports for each part of the tsi to your maschine.

u might want to export your current configs first as the big import button nukes any mappings u currently have in there...

Ben grimms, is the ncm file for the maschine the same as one for Maschine Mikro? thats the part that wont let me do anything. It wont let me load the ncm file into the controller editor

Sometimes after changing the Controller Manager mapping for Maschine, Traktor will no longer recgonize MIDI input from Maschine. Rebooting usually solves the problem.

only 2 possibilities ofc... either the maschine isn't configured to send out the right midi data or the tsi in traktor isn't hooked up properly.

use something like midi-ox to confirm (or not) the first part anyway.

this is the midi data it needs to be sending out to emulate the midifighter in 4banks mode (on midi channel 3):

Code:
4 bank mode

C-1 C#-1 D-1 D#-1
G#2 A2 A#2 B2
E2 F2 F#2 G2
C2 C#2 D2 D#2

(replace octave 2 with 3,4,5 for other banks in rows 2,3,4)
