APC for Traktor Mapping

Thinking of doing something like this. I started a while back, but got distracted. My main thought for it was that one of the main limiting factors for controling is the human form. I noticed with the way the S4 fx works with knobs, you can only control two at once.

The way the midi fighter pros are mapped get into solving some of this, but I wanted a more strait forward multiple effect control. So I mapped them to the faders, and specific fx levels to the buttons above the faders. Not sure if any one else has tried it this. Its actually pretty fun. Not as much precise with the faders as knobs for specific control, but you can literally grab all six and push em up, down, or around. Or turn them all on at different levels with the buttons.

Not my actual controller in the picture by the way. Just used it for demonstration purposes.

Also keep in mind this is used in tandem with an S4 running stock maps. When I was messing with this before, I would use the S4 for a lot of the basic control stuff, and the APC 40 for the trickery.

Let me know what you believe, or have better ideas.

Cheers.

Yea, I left off the sync and pitch bend, as I would use the S4 for the bread and butter controls, and the APC40 for the craziness.

@padi_04 Nice. I'm on it.

@RockingClub. That's a great idea. I've been getting into mixing in key more.

Ever thought about mapping the key knob of Traktor? I mapped it down to a keyboard to detune my songs so that two of them are exactly in the same key. --> Interesting if you would like to mix in key

that's an easy one, just map it as button> direct and have an out sending the cc to the knob so it resets it's position.

The fifth feature would be the eq kills.. Forgot to put in last post. Would be cool to work in some sort of "filter reset" as well.

@padi_04 Thanks for the suggestions. I put them as the EQ's cause I wasn't sure what to do with them to be honest. The EQ kills were my main focus in that area of the controller, since the S4 has none. So I decided that I might as well make the knobs the high, mid, low till I could believe of something better. I'll play with your ideas and see what happens.

@RockingClub There is some redundancy, but that's mainly due to me not being sure exactly what to do with those particular controls when I thought this stuff up. It might be cool to set the X-fader to a macro FX control.

The five features I was mainly going for, which cant be done with the stock S4 were..

Control of mulitiple fx, as described in main post above.

The ability to set loops to a specific size on the fly with one touch. With the S4, you have to turn the knob, scroll to the loop size you want, and then push the knob to engage the loop.

More pre-set que/loop points. With the S4, the most you can have is 8 (there are only 8 buttons). In this configuration, you have 12 per track. (If I did away with the redundant play/cue/etc. buttons at the top, there would be 16.)

Pre-set fx level buttons.

Ok, sorry for not reading carefully.
But when using this in tandem with the S4 then I'm a little bit confused why so many functions have been doubled? I understand your controlling-several-FX-at-once fader solution, but you plan to have many features on the APC which you already have on the S4, right?

He is using it alongside a S4 and stated the APC in the pic isn't his.

In my opinion you are wasting the endless knobs on EQ, the one function that they don't perform as well since they are lacking a center dent. I would suggest you reassigning them for FX since they would benefit of having their position updated when you change FX. Keep your faders for sample volume/filter control or some macro fx.

Just realized I posted this in the wrong section. If Someone could move it to the appropriate one, it would be appreciated.
