I was anticipating this and I have a couple ideas to try... I'll get some time soon and finish this up.

Thank you and have a good day!

Sound interesting?
you could do that or use the midi clock from traktor which seems more stable than the beat phase. on mac its very stable anyway - not so good on windows. you could certainly map any midi commands, sequenced or otherwise, from any midi trigger/input using midimasher.

the max 8 midi mapped hot cue's is a bit of a bugger in traktor and the delay when stacking too many beatjumps is noticeable - with delays that traktor needs to be added in.

mixxx has an unlimited number of hotcues available tho - so you could map as many as you need. also the quantize modes are now much better than they used to be. so is bpm detection and beatgrids.

also in theory i believe an unlimited number of decks - tho i believe there's some issues there with the new multi coloured waveforms and no skins yet anyway.

the four sample decks in mixxx can be pretty much used like full decks though.

8 MIDI mappeable cue points, you can keep adding and moving between them using the jump to prev/next cuepoint commands like you would navigate an audio CD. Not the best solution but it extends the use a bit further.

Nope, the direct just work for for the first 8. Names will be displayed in the Cue tab.

The 8 regulars ones, then Cue/Loops>Prev/Next Cue/Loop to navigate and Store Cue/Loop to keep adding them.

I don't have my copy to hand, does it explain how you can use them, specifically with midi?

SSL doesn't have anything like the mapping capabilities to make this work. And a given track in traktor only has up to 8 cue points. I haven't tried ms pinky but I've heard it works well. One thing I would say, syncing up traktor and ableton to the level required to avoid stuttering with this method will be a pain in the ass.

I don't use SSL but I do know that the bridge doesn't alow you to scratch in ableton, but this workaround should be viable in Serato, right?

I only heard that ms pinky was still getting worked out. Is it accurate and stable enough for hardcore scratching at a gig? From what I just read ms pinky doesn't retrigger the same cue twice, but all that stuff should work fine with this method. Ms pinky also looks like something you have to install and you have to own max for live and know how to program it to work on ms pinky, but this

I don't see why that's necessary... If you want to scratch in ableton you can use ms pinky, if you want to use a few clips in traktor why not use the sample decks?
