Mapping MPD32 shift button
Posted on: 16.04.2012 by Jesusita Capano
Just purchased an Akai MPD32 and have been mapping for two deck control in conjunction with an external mixer. I've mapped all the pads to control deck functions and now want to also set up a shift option to make the pads trigger hot cues but have run into a problem.

I have to press my shift button twice to toggle it on/off, which completely defeats the point of the LED feedback, since when it's on the LED is off half the time and vice versa.

I've followed these instructions to make my shift button.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Sorry if I'm being completely stupid, here are two screen shots of the modifer in and LED out

How come I don't need another modifier from 1>0?

Thanks for the help Stewe!

Adding modifier to button that LED switch on by default is something different from what you seen in this video. No need to make modifiers to toggle because button is toggling LED by default. You need only one modifier set to /hold/ (no duplicate)

M1=1 /hold/

LED 0 to 1 (first try without blend)

I'm glad that worked out. If you got some more questions feel free to ask.

Brilliant mate! Thanks alot, I didn't realise that the other software worked in conjunction with Traktor aswell...

Cheers!

You need to remove "M1=0" from modifier conditions.

Think logical. Why do you need to make modifier to toggle the button when that button has toggle by default. Sense to me

Also, if I have only one modifier the modifier stay on constantly after I have pressed it once.

I have the controller set to toggle and understand thats why it doesn't stay lit.

Is it the LED output MIDI range 0-1?

Have you tried to set your controller's configuration to /toggle/ and set one modifier (no duplicates) to /hold/ interaction mode?

LED output 0 to 1 (no blend)

Sorry for leaving this thread for so long, been majorly busy with university so haven't been using the MPD with Traktor until now and alas the problem still persists. i noticed on my last screenshot the led output was set to cc32 instead of 28, but having corrected it I still have the problem of the led not staying lit even with blend unchecked as Cionni suggested

ANYONE GOT A CLUE WHAT TO DO?

Try setting the controller range 0 - 1
And if this not work, try disable "blend"

I've sorted this problem, so I only have to press the button once and the modifier will change everytime, using the Vyzex software that come with the controller (changing the control to momentary instead of toggle). BUT the LED only comes on for a split second before going off, any help?

This is good question, you can try, set to generic, and try to map only the shift, and check on the modifier window if it works

And try in the mapping window, disable the learn function, try to press shift, and have a look in the small windows on top if m1 change value.

I can't see what is written in the screenshot, and there is not the output command.
Anyway, you have to set like this, if modifier is 0, button direct to 1
If modifier is 1, button direct to 0.
Output should be in range 0-1

Maybe you looked at my reply before I added both screenshots but I've put both up now. In the video I watched the buttons were set to hold...

EDIT: Have tried setting the buttons to direct and still no luck

Add a screenshot of the out for shift button also, it could be an output problem, anyway, I can't see clearly the screenshot, I assume you use "direct" to toggle 0-1 with a modifier1-0

Post a screenshot of the mapping window regarding the shift button, so we can "have a look"
