Hey everyone.

First off, this mapping is still a beta and very much a learning experience for me. Please test it a lot before using it in a performance. I take no responsibility for any embarrassment it might cause you.

This mapping is building off of these prior versions.

Please review those threads for info about this mapping. Better documentation will be coming soon!

What is new in this version?

1. I have added indicator lights for the FX Modes and have added the place holders for Modes 4-7. So "Shift + FX Mode" will take you through the 7 effects groupings. (I only have modes 1-3 filled and working at the moment.)

How do the indicator lights work?

Well, first of all, a song must be playing. Unfortunately, Traktor is pretty tight on changing the outputs of LEDs in their mapping system, so this was the only way to do it. But, as a DJ, I would venture to say, 99.9% of the time when you need the indicators, you'll be playing a track. So the indicators will show up in the LEDs for the FX buttons 1-3, when there is a sound output out of Traktor.

What do the lights mean?

If you know anything about binary numbers and their decimal equivalents, you will have figured it out. But if you don't know about binary numbers and their decimal equivalents, you'll just have to be able to add up numbers quickly and remember the following: FX button 1 is for a 1, FX button 2 is for 2, but FX button 3 is for 4. Confused? Let's go through some examples.

Buttons 2 and 3 are lit. That is mode 6. 2 + 4 = 6.
Lights 1, 2, 3 are on. That is mode 7. 1 + 2 + 4 = 7.
So what would be Mode 5? Right! Lights 1 and 3 are on.

Got it? Try it out.

2. There is a reset for the modifiers now. If things get screwed up, just press the "load" button, so the load button light is off (scratch mode), then press "Shift + the outer offset button". This works for Decks A and B separately.

3. There is now a Mode 3 with a Gator effect.

4. In Mode 1, I've added a cue set, when you press the jog wheel. You can then use cue/play to do some wicked beatmashing and juggling. Try it out. You have to be in rhythm though.

5. I've added a "load current track" with the jog touch in browse mode. I thought it would be nice, since you can scroll through tracks with the jog wheel in browse mode, then all you have to do is just press the jog wheel for the deck you want to load the track in and it loads. The load button also works in browse mode. This something I fixed from the past versions.

6. To load a track, press "Shift + Load" for the deck you want to load. This helps you avoid going into browse mode to load a track.
Restrictions:

1. If you press the Deck C or D buttons and then the "Load" button, you will more than likely screw up the modifiers.
2. If you go to midi-mode, this may also screw up this FX mapping.
3. Changing the layout may also change the way the mapping works and it may not work properly.
4. This will not work with other controllers, which take over the effects banks and use them. Although, there could be a way to fix that later.

Just a recap on the modes in this mapping.

1. Beatmasher with Peakfilter
2. Armyofme's sweep drama effect
3. Gator with combined Wet/Dry and delay
4. Empty
5. Empty
6. Empty
7. Empty

I will be making a tutorial on how to create your own effects groupings. I am also contemplating using other modifiers to do effect changes in one mode. There are a lot of possibilities here. I just wish I had more experience with using effects, so I would know off the bat what to map.

This version was tested with Traktor Pro Version 2.1.2

How to get started?

1. Download the TSI below.

2. Import the TSI using the big import button in the preferences window. Import it twice, just to be certain it is installed properly.

3. Press the load button on both decks. At this point, the FX button lights will not be on, because there is no track playing. But you are now in Mode 1 - Beatmasher.

4. Select a song and use "Shift + Load" to load it. Press play and effects button 1 should light up with sound output out of Traktor. You'll see it waver some, should the output get silent. That is normal.

5. Press "Shift + FX Mode" to change the FX modes for the deck you are working on.

6. Press the Jog and twist away.

So that's it! Have fun and merry Christmas!

I hope you like the mapping and any constructive feedback or reports of issues are very welcome.

If the deck is in sample mode, no problem. That is what the mapping is for or rather, what it isn't for. In other words, if you want the jogs to work on decks C or D, then that won't work.

Please also go to the newer thread linked above. That is where the newest version is at.

Thanks.

What if you do have to use decks c & d? i currently use C for quick drops when in sample mode and some songs in deck mode. I use D for my Mic. And what about when i use the sample buttons for my 5-8 cue points? Am i good to go?

Hey everyone,

I am more than likely going to be releasing 4.3 this weekend. I've been working on effects grouping 4, which is a gator, beatmasher combo (a variation on one of the effect groupings in Ean's S4 mapping), with a little reverb and a bit of filter control. I am not sure about the filter at this point, but it is still really fun. It is really cool, because you can use it to do fills as if you were controlling the drums in the song, so you can spice up long boring 4/4s or highten a transition with a cool sort of drum riff like mashup.

I'll also be adding the tutorial I promised on how to make your own effect groupings or change the current ones.

So stay tuned!

@Lett - I tested Ean's mapping and the loop indicators worked for me. His mapping also works with the default.

I just uploaded 4.2.1 with some corrections for better modifier stability.

If anyone has downloaded the TSI prior to this post, please download again and re-import 4.2.1 (twice).

Thanks Lett.

Yeah, the fact I am new to mapping in Traktor is why this mapping is a supplement to the default mapping. I also thought to myself, there must be a reason why NI added the FX jog mode. This is it. I could never have remapped the complete S4 without going totally bonkers and there are some intrinsic issues with doing a total custom mapping too. So my mapping is a compromise, which I too believe works pretty damn well.

I'll play with Ean's mapping over the holidays and see what I can borrow from it.

Please keep testing this mapping too. I'd really appreciate it.
