Can I change a faders parameters?
Posted on: 25.07.2012 by Herta Barriger
I would like to map the faders on my apc40 to my EQs in traktor... But I would like the EQ to be at 0db when the fader is pushed all the way to the top. Is that possible? I can't seem to find a way to change the parameters to make this happen.

Is this kind of thing possible? Ultimately, I'd like to quickly throw a fader up, and know that I'm stopping at 0db. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Keep this settings. Turn knob all the way down and when it stays at 0% you should use mouse to move on screen fader to all the way down also. Try it then, it should work as you wanted.

Maybe one preset modifier to be 1 only when your knob is all down. Then add EQ direct button 0.000 to same knob and give it condition of that modifier have set before. Once modifier is pick up it should reset screen parameter to zero giving you current APC knob position.

I don't have Traktor in front of me to try and trouble shoot. I believe you should be able to set the fader where you want it to be when the EQ knob is dead center. Double click on the EQ knob to reset it to center. You may need to do this before each set.

Thanks for the help guys! I didn't expect so many responses so quickly. You guys rock. So, I'm home now and trying this out on my apc... and I'm almost there. I set the fader to "encoder" at 70% rotary sensitivity. And here's what I've got:

fader set all the way down: 0% eq
fader set all the way up: 100% eq

I want the opposite... I want the fader to be all the way down and have the eq at -100% and all the way up to have 0% eq.

No problem, I just hit invert right? But then, here's what happens

fader all the way down: 0% eq
fader all the way up: -100% eq

it's the exact opposite of what I need (but it's so close!!!) What am I doing wrong?

I just checked it on my APC set the rotary sensitivity to 70%

Set encoder to relative and start playing with sensitivity. I'm sure you'll find some result.

Well, I like the idea of controlling all four bands of EQ with the faders on my APC40. When I mix, I will typically pull the EQs down, but rarely boost them up (subtractive EQing). Because I prefer subtractive EQing, my EQs very rarely go above +0%. And so I would like to map my controller so that when I push the fader all the way to the top, I end up at +0%. This will save me from having to keep the faders at exactly middle (which would be a pain, as the apc faders don't have a notch in the middle where I could feel exactly when the fader is half way).

Do you want to see screen knob movement act twice as slower as move it on controller?

Where do you want the knob in the software to be when the fader is up, down and in the middle?

Sorry to be so confusing. Basically right now the mapping works like this:

Fader down: -100%
Fader all the way up: +100%

I want it to be...

Fader down: -100%
Fader all the way up: +0%

That would put me at -dbs. I essentially want my fader so that a full sweep goes from 0-50%. Does that make sense? In other words, I'd like to control the parameters -12db (or whatever it is) to 0db, instead of -12db to 12db.

click invert in the mapping.
