Help making a Beatmasher mapping!
Posted on: 17.08.2012 by Kitty Marynowski
Hello, I'm trying to make the beatmasher mapping that Ean Golden uses in this video:

at around the 3:20 mark, for my Traktor X1. I have 4 buttons that does the beatmasher at 60%, 80%, 90%, and 100%, and at the 100% button it does a transpose stretch, but how do I make it so that the transpose stretch does a sweep down? The best I can do is set the mapping to button, decrease, and coarse, with auto repeat, but this doesn't work very well because it doesn't repeat instantly, it delays for a fraction of the second and doesn't make it sound smooth.

So how do I map the transpose sweep?

Can you explain this a bit? You have added modifier condition M1=1 to Modifier 1? Also be sure to place beatmasher in Unit 1 or 2 and transpose in to 3 or 4 for best result..

Be creative dude! That's why I posted video with mapping. Download it and take a look, I'm sure you'll come up with something from there.

Okay, I made add in -> Modifier -> Modifier #1 and mapped it to the 60% beatmasher (button, hold, value=1) but I didnt give the modifier a modifier condition. It seems to work all right except after I hold all 4 beatmasher buttons, and then let go, the tranpose tends to stay on. You said to map tranpose on - invert but I didn't get it to work. Where should I map this so the transpose button turns off after I let go of all the buttons?

I tried that, but now the transpose doesn't work at all. All I changed was I added a Modifier #1 (button, hold, value=1, modifier M1 and value 1) that was tied to my first button (which activates a 60% beatmasher, and moves tranpose to 100% but doesn't activate it). Then on the 4th button, where Beatmasher becomes 100%, I made effect 2 On (turns tranpose on) have modifier M1 and value 1, and effect 2 amount (button, dec, coarse, auto repeat) also have Modifier M1 and value 1. But now the tranpose doesn't come on at all. What am I doing wrong?

HI Lusokami,

You need to use modifier which activate transpose at the end. Map M1=1 to first button (mash 0.600) and set interaction mode to hold and make sure your "transpose-on" and "transpose-dec" commands are defined with that modifier condition (M1=1). Should work like when you hold first button - modifier value go to 1 so your last button in a row (mash 1.000) become ready for transpose sweep. When you hold fourth button and transpose go 0.000 releasing buttons could be little tricky because if you release modifier button first - your transpose on will stay activated leaving you that transposed sound. This is why you need to release fourth button before others or to map "transpose on" invert hold-0 so you don't need to believe about that. I use it like this since i got my controller and it have never let me down. Button might get broken sometimes but this combo will still work if you re-map it

I'm giving example with M1 here, you can use which ever is free in your mapping.

Add in> Modifier #1 / type-button / mode-hold / value-1

Eventually you can map whole thing to one button using this trick. Also check video description for link to dl mapping if you're interested to give it a go.
