Numark 4TRAK Platter FX + Full LED Feedback! Testers wanted!
Posted on: 06.07.2012 by Wenona Murro
Hi Guys,

I have been working on a new and exciting mapping for the Numark 4TRAK. I am pretty sure this mapping is a stable release, but would like fellow controllerists to test it out first. Please report findings and or improvements here so I can improve before I release it for download. This may also work with NS6 but have not tested yet.

The 4TRAK Platter FX

- 7 Preset Platter FX Combos (Selected with the assign encoder)
- Full Platter LED Feedback when in Platter FX Mode (Beat Phase Monitor Strobe)
- Platter LED feedback of Wet/Dry amounts of each effect
- Delay Freeze Button
- “QuickMash” TouchStrip
- Quick Turntable Stop Button
- FX Hold
- Full Browser Toggle

*Added with 1.2 Update
- Deck Zoom with Tempo Fader
- Cues 1-5 kill Beatmash Touch Strip for better juggling
- Improved Platter LEDs
- Show Advanced Panel
- Move Grid Marker with (+, -)
- Other Mapping Improvements to make more stable

Click Here to Download the Mapping

IMPORTANT: Make sure you import the mapping file twice using the import button in the lower left of the preferences window.

This mapping would not have been possible without this community. Thank you to the DJTT team for the inspiration!

Thanks! Unfortunately I won't be updating the NS6 version. I am almost finished with 3.0 that uses only generic midi for all mappings so it possibly could also work with the NS6 as the midi is the same. I will test it out once it's finished and post the edit for download.

Jog Turn - Fader/Knob Relative = Sensitivity - 0% , and Acceleration 0%.
That's smart, cheers! I have take a look at the mapping, although I'm more interested in using the jogs for other things more relevant to my workflow - not really a jog FX kinda person. Now, if we could get the pitch faders to be remapped like this too...

Edit: I see you already have, very nice! I'm going to give this a spin tomorrow.

The FX worked fine, but the only problem i had was that the mapping didn't disconnect the jog-wheels manipulating the track. So when i used the Platter FX the track was pitch bent and it was a bit annoying!

Otherwise the mapping worked fine!
There have been some updates to the mapping I have version 2 almost ready with 11 effects. Will upload it tomorrow after I make the video going through all of the features.

Here are the new versions for both 4TRAK and NS6. The mappings below are reworks with many improvements and additions. I removed the Native Instruments platter mappings on the 4TRAK so the scratching is not as tight, but this gave the Layer FX much better response. Let me know if anyone finds issues with them before I post them to the mapping sections. Enjoy!

Think you are missing digital LOFI in some combination. I'll be doing one video soon and will post it here also so you can check it out.

Thanks! Yes indeed I am! I wanted to start out with a few then hopefully add more effects modes from other users. If you have a great layered effect post it here I will consider adding it to the mapping. 😃

I was able to test this a bit with the NS6. This mapping currently does not work correctly. I am editing the mapping so it is compatible with the NS6. I should have a NS6 version soon!

I Have added a download link to the orignal post. I haven't fully tested on the NS6 so I'm very curious if it works the same. I believe the midi is similar.
