Z2, X1, F1, & MF3D Combination Mapping
Z2, X1, F1, & MF3D Combination Mapping Posted on: 24.12.2012 by kary lemay Hi,I just picked up a Z2, X1, F1, and MF3D after using one of the first VCI-100SE's. I've watched countless videos on how to control them separately, but the integration of them together is quite lacking--specifically the X1 & Z2. The Z2 only has a Dry/Wet and Macro Effect knob for each channel, while the X1 obviously has a Dry/Wet & then three knobs for either 3 effects (group) or 3 parameters of 1 effect (single). Currently the Z2 & X1 'fight' over the first effect. I wanted to solve this by having the X1 on effects 1 & 2 and the Z2 on 3 and 4 (just used as 1 macro effect). Also, I noticed that I the two other sets of big knobs for transport & looping are doubled on the Z2 (which uses only 1 transport knob with an 'A' & 'B' selection, but 2 loop knobs). Therefore, to avoid double usage, I thought I could assign those as macro effects knobs as well; however, they are endless knobs so I didn't believe this would work (any ideas on what else I could use them for?) Overall I feel like my X1 is useless currently aside from a play button and two additional effects/each channel. I sold my DDJ-SX to get this as I assumed the integration of 3 NI products would be flawless, but I may have been wrong. Has anyone created a TSI mapping that addresses some of these questions of better integrates the X1 with the Z2 without doubling all the inputs? I currently just have the F1 controlling the remix decks and know I can switch between 3 & 4. I originally thought that I was going to use the MF3D as the other remix deck, but after watching some videos I may assign THAT to control the effects that the X1 & Z2 aren't... I'm just a bit lost. Thanks so much for everyone's help. I really appreciate it. | |

Dick Korus 26.12.2012 | All I did was did a basic eq and kills, but I am adding moddifiers as we speak to control fx banks. A good way to do it would be add a toggle modifier on the "on" buttons above the eq kills. For example- Add a modifier (m1) M1=0; set value to 1 Duplicate it- M1=1; set value to 0. What this will do is when modifier 1 isn't on it will turn it on and when modifier one is on it will turn it off. And I would add out to both of these making when M1=1 is on- set the led value to min 127, max 127. When M1=0- set the led value to 0, 127. It worked for me but I had to mess with it a bit. Then map a your second functions on the knobs adding m1-1 as the modifier conditions. Don't use (m1-1) find a modifier value that isn't being used. |

Jenni Tiano 26.12.2012 | +1 currently looking or going to try to make a map that will use the x1 to control the eq and filters for the mixer of deck c+d, and also the transport for those decks. my setup is currently z2+x1+f1- just found out on z2 that if you hold shift and press rel/intl it plays track A or B. Went on the NI community and found out the manual for the z2 is in:Applications/Native Instruments/Traktor 2/Documentation/Z2 |
