Hi when i use i play using in (the audio set up) the buil-in output, (the sound card of my mac book pro), there is litterally no bass at all. All the bass are cut. but if i use headphones (still on my computer) the bass are normal.
So how can i bring the bass ?

YaYa, I've read trough all four pages of this thread and I still have no clue as to what your setup is or ..whatever.
Try asking an educated question and perhaps you'll get a useful reply, helping you out.

HOW are you recording? What devices are you using? How is your EQ and filter set up? if you cannot answer these simple questions we're gonna have a hard time helping you.

no he means what audio interface, are you playing through the S4's outputs, or routing it through your macbook's outputs? what does the first setting in the preferences say? open audio midi setup and see what options are available and what's set as default etc

and yeah dude don't be rude these guys are just trying to help you out the best they can

it might be useful if you post up screenshots of what settings you have and what your traktor screen looks like it'll give us a better idea

i dunno man, it sounds like the bass is there, but is weaker or just not good thru your laptop speakers. it is probably a very simple thing like the volume you recorded at is not high enough to drive the bass.

if i had your computer in front of me or could see your signal path, or the files you get on recording, maybe i could help more. like if i had the original mp3 you started from, i could see your levels in traktor, i could see the file size and type of the recorded file, and i could a/b it against your original mp3's volume/gain. then i could help.

you could try open up the file you have recorded in a spectral analyzer and let us know if the bass is there or not - what is the volume/gain on the freqs from 20hz to around 200hz? cos whatever you can hear with your headphones, that is what everyone else in the world would hear with their headphones.

unfortunately laptop speakers are not trustworthy.

no when i put the headphones it always work. (and yes it's in mp3)
Lorri Bobar

even with your headphones on?

is it a .wav file? try right clicking in itunes and convert to mp3. now see if there is bass.

But wait, if that's the case, how come even after i recorded and put my track on my itunes, there is still no bass
Lorri Bobar
31.07.2012
yes, pick yourself up an audio interface and you'll also be able to separate your 'cue mix' from your 'main output', so you can listen to decks on your headphones before the crowd hears it - good for cueing up the next track and getting it in time.

well after if i listening back with headphones, i can hear the bass.

And DAMN, that was the answer i was looking for. THanks dude !

ah ok. well, the output coming out of traktor and using your macbook pro in built soundcard is probably too much for your computer speakers to handle, so the bass isn't being represented.

you say when you record the output of traktor, it also has no bass? even after listening back with headphones?

anyway, an audio interface (or external soundcard) is a device that moves all audio processing to its own place (this is also what video cards do). so, instead of yuor macbook struggling to deal with multiple tracks playing AND running the system, software, internet, etc. you can offload all of that extra processing to a device that is made to sound good and made to not overload.

my thoughts

i am on a mac book pro if it's what you mean

31.07.2012
what audio interface are you using?

1. no it's in the center
2.no effect
3. same problem with every deck

but the problem is not my computer: on itunes, or vdj the bass are working. it's just on traktor. BUT when i put any kind of headphones or monitors the bass come back...

traktor has eq kill buttons for low, mid-lo, mid, and hi - sounds to me like you've got the low eq turned off/killed?

Hey Yaya, I believe I understand your question. Can you follow-up to let us know if you've checked any of the following?

  1. is the filter turned to the hi-pass setting?
  2. what about your eq settings--are they all set to default?
  3. are there any effects turned on that might take low-end out of your sound?
  4. what if you put a sound in another deck? are you still having the same problem?

Damn, traktor has some serious issus, this one, the fact that you can't kill the equalizer (by turning the knobs down)...
For starters, I use traktor and am confused as to what you're saying since there's no issue with traktor at all with bass.
Also you dont NEED monitors for music play back, some simple 2.1 speakers or headphones will do fine. Laptop speakers are garbage.

Also, you are extremely rude to those who try to help out. You should probably leave the community s with that kind of attitude.

Look when I play music through my laptop speakers out of traktor it sounds shit and everybody has the exact same problem
THE ONLY THING THAT WILL FIX IT IS BY BUYING POWERED SPEAKERS OR MONITORS

I am just trying to have as much bass in traktor as in the other applications dude. cuz, without bass the sound is awefull.

Oh my god !!! it's a miracle, when i put a sound i downloaded on itunes or virtual dj... there are bass !!! OH MY GOD I JUST BROKE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS !!!!
hmmm but it's weird, because even if there are bass in every of my applications, it seems like traktor is resisting...
Bunny Sockel
23.07.2012
like padi said your fighting against physics the reason your headphones sound better than your laptop speakers is because they probably have bigger drivers in them. dude the only way your going to fix this is by buying monitors trust me
Garret Selstad
23.07.2012
no.
and when i post ithem on soundcloud i still have this awfull sound quality (cuz there's no bass). When i listen to it on itunes without headphones it is like playing it on traktor without headphones so...
Bunny Sockel
23.07.2012
do you listen to your mixes in itunes through your headphones or through your laptop speakers
Garret Selstad
23.07.2012
ok the thing is i mix using headphones. but when i record my mixes and put them on itunes, the sound is awful because there are no bass at all. so that's why i would like to solve this problem
Bunny Sockel
23.07.2012
even if you can fix the problem with the low end your still going to get nothing out of your laptop speakers
Bunny Sockel
23.07.2012
The only answer i can believe of is buying monitors or pa's

Well on Itunes, Virtual DJ and every other software i can hear bass.
And i don't say that the bass is low i say that it is litterally cut

You won't get much bass response from lappy speakers. Lower frequencies are harder to reproduce on tiny speakers and are just inaudible at a distance greater than a few cm.

It's not a problem with your computer, you are fighting against physics.
