Random X 16.07.2008 | If you play in clubs, there will always be turntables or CDs. Might come in handy to have a set of Time coded Vinyl and CDs with you. But when push comes to shuff... No problems with vinyl here. |
Jenny Pow 04.07.2008 | I have a cheapo Gemini cd deck in my rack. |
Carlos Villalpando 03.07.2008 | I switched to vinyl when traktor froze for me last weekend |
Allan Rodriguez 20.05.2008 | I usually have 1210's in my setup, if not I just bring an old cdj-100 that I have, never had to use it, I always bring it all the same,.: |

Ashirumatic DJ 15.04.2008 | I myself am playing out using a laptop and the VCI-100 and a Trigger Finger hooked to Ableton Live and/or Dekadance. However in the event I have a mass failure I do have a hard-drive with all my projects backed up and music set up to play in any digital set-up (ie... FS, Mix Vibes, Torq, Serato etc...) when available. As well I have a handsome selection of music on CD's ready to go. The funny thing I find lately is when I am out (Generally warehouse parties) I see fewer and fewer vinyl DJs. The last show I was at there was only one. They had to scramble due to a lack of preparation to get a set of turntables and a mixer in order for him to play. The best advice is when traveling to a venue. Investigate before hand what will be generally available. or you could just sing |
Miloje Savic 12.04.2008 | yeah that's what i want to do.. play at clubs... and lil gigs here and there... I really wanna buy those pioneer dj 400 cuz its an all in one player as well.. i can use a hard drive or ipod cd mp3 and coded cd's... all in one.. |
Irvin Cee 11.04.2008 | If you are not playing in a club, take an iPod with you, if you're playing in a club, learn how to mix on cd players and burn a couple of CD's.... |
Andre Ordonez 11.04.2008 | I'm going to sing classes xDD then if laptop crashes I can sing a song hehe |
Roberto Viccione 11.04.2008 | Well, the CDJ-400 doubles as a MIDI controller. And you get a mixer that doubles a MIDI controller and you have an all-in-one for around $2500... hm... |
Xavier Emanuels 11.04.2008 | You could use something that also doubles as another midi control.... if such a thing exists, anyone know ? That would justify the purchase of a decent cd deck |
Chris Dececio 10.04.2008 | use some cheap cd player! that is the best... |
Roberto Viccione 10.04.2008 | The evening
that I spin at has CD decks all the other DJs use so I just bring a small case of CDs and cue one up when I start. But I've been debating on putting together a larger rig (CD decks, turntables and VCI-100) so I believe a pair of simple CD decks should do the trick. The CDJ-400's might be a bit much just for a backup. But maybe a simple integrated mixer/CD decks could work, or the iPod idea. Keep in mind you don't want to have a better backup than your main option. |
Nick Ross 10.04.2008 | Use an iPod already connected to one of the mixer's channels. |
