VCI-100SE Arcade Buttons Mod Pictures
VCI-100SE Arcade Buttons Mod Pictures Posted on: 29.10.2008 by pramod hamidpure i finished my arcade buttons mod on my VCI-100SE yesterday, and just wanted to share my pictures from the process with you guys.01 - ta'daaa! 02 - filled the old holes with chemical metal (aka. Jb Weld) then sanded it down. did one rough filling on each side, then 2 fine ones on the upside. 03 - close up 04 - once the machinist started drilling, the fillings started to crack. i then had them cut out a square around the old holes, and weld in a new plate with the new ones. this is surely gonna last forever and will definatley take a beating. 05 - close up 06 - filled the small gabs and sanded the whole thing down, dont worry if theres a little paint left, it just helps the new paint stick. | |

Florence Alch 29.12.2008 | what did you use to re-paint the lines on the knobs from red to white? |
Maricruz Rajo 17.12.2008 | Good effort there! i was wondering coz i've seen that you used the 'snap in' arcade buttons, which i presume are 24 mm, do they work just the same as the ones with a screw nut top hold them in place? and in terms of playabilty, are they well worth the work? i've seen some arcade buttons with lights in them which would be cool if ic coul be made possible. tim |

pramod hamidpure 03.11.2008 | thanks. spraypaint always gives a tiny rugged surface, and if thats what you mean, thats the thing i like about it, the overall surface seems more plain compared to brush-strokes. if you hold your spraycan too close (closer than 35cm) the paint might spatter a little, and that did happen in my paintjob. (havent used a can for years) so im gonna add another layer later on. i dont believe the dust in the air showns in my paint, and if you spray in a normal closed room, it shouldn't be a problem. |
Santi Taos 02.11.2008 | great job...one question. i have spraypainted my mixer faceplate with some luck but it seems that the spray would pick up the little amount of dust in the air and get thrown into the paint. have you had that happen? |

pramod hamidpure 29.10.2008 | 07 - if you wanna spray paint it, ALWAYS use a ground cleaner, and remember it takes a whole week for the paint to fully dry. (yes i had to dj one weekend without my controller, and yes, it really sucked) 08 - after watching a few youtube videos on how to solder, i did the rewireing. 09 - close up 10 - to give the last finish, i painted the red lines on the knobs white. thats it :] ean and bentosan, thank you for inspiration, cutting guide and quick answers about the wireing, you guys rock! |
