Miloje Savic 06.03.2009 | thanks for the info man.. yeah I'm really believeing of getting it.. but like you said it does feel cheap... but it gets the job done.. plus I'm hearing that you can use it with traktor so I'm waiting to see what you can do with both... |
Granville Cerullo 04.03.2009 | I had mine for about 3 weeks now.. it's a nice unit, but I believe it feels cheap. I own a mpc-500, and sadly the mpc feels much more solid, more professionnal. The software itself is very stable, very easy to use, and comes with a nice dvd that has thousands of various instruments and sound you can use. They also changed the mapping between the retail version and the update that came out, and i believe it was highly unprofessional to just remap some options without warning or saying it first.. Before, to switch to keyboard mode, you had to just press the big keyboard button, but now since the new version, I must hold it and press some other button on the top of the unit to active it full time. The unit is also completly dependant of the software, you cant bring it on the road like a mpc, its not a standalone. You can use it without looking at the screen, but you HAVE to have it connected to a pc with a copy of the software installed. I would say its a nice evolution over the classic mpc stuff, but i was really letdown with the build quality of the unit. Yes it has tons of lights, but the case feels really cheap. But when it comes down to making music, its really great. The pads are really responsives; and the software is simple and great. It get shits done fast, as opposed to the mpc, who took me a bigger adaption to wrap my head around it. You can use the software in 'standalone mode', as in, by itself, or you can import it as a plugin for all those DAW programs, which I dont have. I give it a 8/10, i believe it was potential to be a really big thing. |
